Great video :) I wonder why they used flaps 3 for Takeoff.

Flaps are generally used during takeoff to help the plane get lift. Some planes might not even need to deploy flaps at takeoff cause the runway is long enough for them to get to the speed they need or maybe they have a tail wind that’s helping them but the airbus are generally bigger planes so even with a long runway they need the flaps to help lift that giant beast into the air.

@@jthavornactually. This is not true. Every aircraft, except for the Airbus A300 is required to deploy flaps for takeoff. The Airbus A300 uses slats. Aside from that, all other Airbuses are required to use at least Flaps 1. I agree Flaps 3 would be too excessive for a 4 and a half hour flight from a runway that is more than 10,000 feet long.

Yep. It did not seem necessary for this flight as it is just a 4 and a half hour flight and the runway was more than 10,000 feet. Even if a full flight, Flaps 1 with flex would had still been enough to get off of the runway.

@@SYDAirlineEnthusiast thanks for clarifying. I’m not a pilot just an aviation fan so I’m no expert by any means. Still amazing how something so big and heavy can fly.
