I know cribs don't seem very techie but when they convert, it's like a Transformer Bed! :) I wanted to post this video to help soon-to-be parents that are researching for baby crib options. The 4-in-1 comes with everything you need to start with but the mattress. This should hold you thru the toddler bed minus any bed rails to keep the toddler from falling out of the bed, which can be purchased separately. Then as you convert to a full size bed, you will need rails and a full sized mattress. I hope this helps?

Typically with the crib we had, you have to buy a mattress frame for a full size bed, buy the mattress and attach the front rail as the footboard, and the back taller rail as the headboard. Of course follow the instructions in the manual from the manufacturer to ensure your crib is assembled safe and secure in the full bed conversion.

We just bought a Jenny Lind Davinci crib with the same sort of spring frame construction. It seems to tilt when you push on one side or the other due to the way the brackets hold the spring frame. Did you notice this on yours? We were concerned about safety, especially as baby weighs and moves more. Is the idea the mattress will hold it in place? Seems iffy still to me.

No spring frame movement for me. There was a little sway until I got all four fasteners in place and snug. After that it is rock solid.

My back peice came backwards...basically the screw holes are on the flip side of the back. It doesn't seem to make a difference in the crib other than cosmetic...the inside back is just on the outside back, but I wanted your opinion since I have only realized this after 6 months of use.

+bronzeDlite We did convert it to a toddler bed... I was going to shoot a video but honestly it was just removing the side rail that faces out and that's it, pretty uneventful and VERY SIMPLE! I would say if you do need a railing to NOT buy the ones sold at Walmart. They do not fit the bed, mattress or frame correctly. I would suggest looking into either the one from Delta or something else. Luckily our little one didn't need one at all. Just use your best judgement as a parent for whats best for your child.

How to convert to a full size bed???

Is there an easy way to adjust the mattress to a different level vs having to take the front piece off and moving corner to corner? In the market for a new crib and have been using an heirloom that is so much easier to adjust the mattress level, only problem my 20 month old son is shaking it apart...

We just adjusted ours and didn't remove the front wood railing at all... I just removed the mattress and the way I did it was I just loosen and remove one side of the mattress frame hex screws. I started with the back side (the part against the wall) and secured them to the lower desired mount points then I moved to the front side and repeated the process. Reinserted the mattress and all done in about 5 minutes and by myself.

Not sure. I am not familiar with that other product. Worse case scenario, if you need hardware, check your local hardware store.

Visit your hardware store for new hardware and if screw holes are loose you can fill with a wooden dowel and get a more solid connection.

Hi scotty- I'm confused about something-- you mention that you could convert this bed with no additional parts. I don't want the safety toddler rail... I just want the outside baby bed rail off and don;t want the rest of it to fall apart :-) Do you know if this is possible? If not I'll skip the expense and use a toddler bed someone has offered us. But my child would really prefer transitioning from the crib he has loved. Thanks for the advice. Christina

+Chris h You can drop it down to a toddler bed with no additional parts... We have ours converted to a toddler bed with no bed rail system and it works just fine. After that to convert to a full size bed you will need a frame sold separately.

Scotty D technically without a rail is called a "Daybed" if u call Delta costumer service they will ship u a rail at no cost..since u bought a all in one.. Delta is usually pretty good about that...just dont wait till u convert it 2 yrs down the road- the warranty will be useless...and ull have to pay for rail. If u look on Walmart..BabiesRUs ..Amazon u can find crib mattress bundles and save lots of money...u can get a good mattress half off...i bought a crib and mattress for 149 plus tax... but it was a Ashton..which is a very sturdy crib

With all due respect... that's semantics as for how you look at a toddler bed. Rails do not make a toddler bed. In fact, many manufacturers make "toddler beds" that do not have rails on them. That's simply an optional add-on. Any Delta would not give me a free rail. I already asked when I bought the crib. They informed me it is an add-on part they sell.

Yes you can convert by simply removing the outer rail part and the crib remains stable IMHO. The Toddler Rail doesn't come standard with this crib in the original box. It's an after add-on purchase from Delta or your big box store. That said, ALWAYS use your discretion BUT also ALWAYS follow manufacturer recommendations for safety with this and all products.

+Aely Ramirez (04arely) You will use a bed frame. This is sold separately and can be purchased at most mattress stores or even online. Just make sure you get the correct size bed frame to accommodate the Delta Bently 4-in-1. So simply put in Arrangement 4, the only thing that will remain is the headboard and the footboard. All other elements of the crib will not be used.

Anyone else lost at step one? I bought this exact crib used at a yard sale and although it came with all parts and hardware, no instructions. That's a hard one to give an absolute answer to. Many manufacturers have their own build plants therefore they more than likely select what type/size screws will work with their designs.

I originally planned on making a video but honestly it was so easy that we just forgot to make it. What we did was remove the front railing system (what you face when you place your child in the crib) and ensure the matress spring frame is at the lowest level. You can order a rail system to keep your child from rolling out. We didn't need it. This all said... and for obvious reasons for safety and stuff like that, I recommend following the manufacture recommended instructions for all conversions of cribs.

Essentially, what you need to do is buy a matress frame and a box spring and mattress of your choice... Then you use the back and front rails of the crib. The back (taller rail) becomes the headboard and the front (shorter rail that you face when you put your baby in) becomes the foot board. The bed frame attaches to these rails. Done and done... :) I hope this helps?

The crib to bed conversion is a little vague but essentially you take the front and back rails of the crib. These will make up the foot and headboards. You then add your own aftermarket purchased frame and attach the head and foot boards. You will then need to purchase a box spring and mattress and then you're done.

+Milan Rochens Essentially it's an easy process that is outlined in the included documentation that comes with the crib. KEEP YOUR ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS! But in short, you remove the front railing and attach the toddler rail that is sold separately. When we converted the crib to a toddler bed we didn't need the railing. OH and don't buy the child railing from Walmart either as it doesn't fit properly with the way the bottom rail and mattress sit into the frame.

+Shawnte Cain According to the owners manual the crib converts to a toddler bed with no additional parts needed. You can add a Guard Rail if needed and that part can be found at Target online which is where we bought the crib from. You are probably talking about the ALLEN WRENCH or HEX WRENCH. You will need to take one of your bolts to the hardware store to make sure you get the correct size wrench or wrench set.
