The same thing happened to my husband and I when we traveled to Las Vegas in July. We had a direct flight to Vegas and had no issues. However, on the way back, our flight was scheduled to leave at 1p.m. We received a delay notification that the flight would not leave until 1:15pm., which turned into 1:30pm, 2:45pm, 3:00pm, 3:15pm, 3:30pm...etc. until 11:30pm that night. We eventually did not leave until 12:45a.m. in the morning back to Washington, D.C. The flight was a direct flight out of Las Vegas. America Airlines lied and told us that the plane had engine problems when the truth was they didn't have pilots availabile to fly us out. We had to wait until pilots arrived from L.A. for an evening flight. It was crazy. There was no way out of there. We flew out on a Monday. I have realized that the best time to fly out of Las Vegas is on the weekends. As a result of this foolishness, I don't plan to visit Las Vegas anytime soon.

Wow, yea they lie about the reason for the delay, because if it's not weather or mechanical they have to pay claims to everyone. Flying these days is definitely crazy.

Summer travel was horrible for all airlines this summer unfortunately due to things like weather and staffing out of their control it is something that not one airline could have anticipated happening and some airlines were worse than this! Unfortunate for travelers and hopefully ALL airlines will do better with these situations moving forward as we continue to come out of the pandemic and get back to normalcy. Out of all of my summer travel Delta was the best at getting me to and from my destination with little issues and if something arose my customer service experience was always positive but i understood why American and Jetblue had their issues when i flew with them both this summer as well and would still patronize both airlines if need be. As with everything coming out of the pandemic its just a readjusting and giving grace to businesses and the employees. Better travel days are coming.

Staffing issue definitely took a toll on travel. Hopefully the airlines will be better prepared next summer.

It was. Luckily we had the flexibility to miss a day of work.
