There's really no "drum machine" on the original song either, Liam Howlett used to sample most of the instruments from tons of bands, including Nirvana, RATM, reggae bands, funk bands, jazz bands, metal bands etc.

That's right, most of their songs have drums but sampled from another tracks. One of the best drum lines of theirs (in my opinion) is the one from "Breathe", which was actually sampled from drum breaks on Thin Lizzy's "Johnny the Fox Meets Jimmy the Weed" They have original drum lines, however. As I know, Liam Howlett is also a drummer but in live performances there are session drummers performing

Я не музыкант, и не поклонник продиджи, но меня всегда поражали ребята на ударниках, чисто с точки зрения возможности человеческого тела . Со стороны кажется, что ударники самый лёгкий инструмент среди музыкальных, но внимательно вглядитесь ! У него все четыре конечности двигаются асинхронно по своему ритму . Попробуйте старый фокус левой погладить по животу, а правой похлопать по макушке, это же просто, а вот фиг вам, а тут пля все четыре конечности в завораживающем четком ритме . Потом ещё , обратите внимание , когда он крест на крест отбивает ритм на тарелке и барабане , замах вроде такой, что палочки должны пересекаться , но и тут четкий ритм и они не стукаются друг об друга. Ударники , это не только владение инструментом , это развитые обои полушария мозга и потрясающее владение телом !
