Deltarune: An Afternoon Stroll

(A few hours before the festival...)
Welp, another animation done and dusted. Geez, did not think it was gonna end up being this long or TAKE this long to finish. And even then, I needed the help of quite a few people to make it all work, but hey, I always appreciate the assistance lol! Anyways, hopefully y'all will enjoy this animation after all this time. I’ll admit, perhaps it’s not as exciting as the last few I’ve made, but it’s setting the groundwork for big things in the future! Things I’d like to continue and explore even after future chapters release, so I hope that’s cool with all of you.

So, yeah, I’m making this an official AU, take, whatever you wanna call it lol. Deltarune: FATE, I can’t go into too many details about the gist of this without spoiling stuff in the future. All you really need to know for now is that this is the title I’m putting under for certain past animations of mine and future works in the making. Think of it as a convenient way to easily check which videos directly relate to one another and which others don’t! Considering those next few official chapters are approaching ever closer, I hope this serves as a clear indication that I’m continuing in my own direction with some of this stuff! Overall, it should be a fun experience and I hope I’ll have many of you along for the ride in the meantime!

Unironically I think the cloaked figure is a Rudy darkner. Sort of just based off the area they appear near the graveyard... they could probably be a titan too considering their knowlege. Oh my gosh, their whole cutscene was SO COOL LOOKING.

I don’t think the figure is the mayor, as the town would know if the mayor kept visiting a site like the bunker in a cloak like this. also the shoulders are very broad for the mayor, but that’s not too compelling because that’s just what I think the mayor looks like (also hi wolf kitty)

Maybe it's ralsei? He said he's gonna be gone, and it looks like his cloack. Ralsei knows a lot of ominous stuff and is directly citing wingdings font message on old deltarune site. The grass sorta being weird could be darkness from grand fountain (which is actually in the bunker, but through a hole or whatever has entrance at school) pouring out, thus allowing ralsei to be here. More on parallels, he has exactly one animated prophecy of future, is slightly goofy, and Susie tells exact same lines. He also said going back as group will attract HIM so it could be why he conceals identity. Height is the only problem, so maybe it's just him having the final shadow crystal, and being all powerful and strong because of it.

Oooo this was a good one. The cutscenes were really cool and spooky. Very well made. The Dess mystery is one of the things I'm most interested in seeing in future Deltarune chapters and this fed me a little bit.

I'm gonna take a shot in the dark and say this is the same cloaked riverman from Undertale before he became a riverman ie a somehow aged up Ralsei who took to wearing his cloak again and somehow became able to venture into the Lightner World upon being discarded by Gaster upon fulfilling his purpose, whatever that may be. Ralsei has shown us that he is easily swayed(for example, Chapter 1==King gets him to heal him by talks of peaceful cooperation and then in a few seconds betrays him.).

Okay, so this is sparking a theory. The hooded figure is connected to Gaster. So is Kris. And they can sense the hooded figure's link. Throughout the entire conversation with the hooded figure, Kris gets a bunch of messages in wingdings, and it's very obviously not affecting them positively, as they go limp in fear everytime they get one. Decoded, the two messages we see are "fate" and "pawn." A pawn is one of the pieces in a chess game. And we had seen that chapter one is heavily linked to chess. And pawn, as slang, means somebody is using your for their own advantage. And, well, we all know what date means. Filling in the blanks, we are using Kris for our own advantage. What the messages are saying means that Kris is destined to be a puppet for us to control. Awesome. I'm guessing Kris knows how to read wingdings, so getting reminded that they can't be free from the player is obviously not fun for them. Another thing, the first time Kris gets a message, the hooded figure starts to say they weren't the ones who gave Kris the message before getting cut off by Susie. So either Kris is giving themselves the message due the mention/connection of Gaster, or Gaster himself is. And if Gaster was the one giving Kris the messages, then he probably wouldn't be too happy if Kris gets their freedom back. Also, The Legend leitmotif playing at the end of the video definitely emphasizes prophesy, fate, and destiny. I'm excited to see where this goes next! Can't wait for trauma and angst!

Oh, poor Kris...! It hurt to see them so afraid, but it warmed my heart to see Susie watching out for them. Her holding her arm out to protect them from the cloaked Darkner was so sweet, and focusing on helping them up and getting them out of there when they started seemingly panicking... It was also really interesting how she was standing in the front, and how the cloaked Darkner was exclusively speaking to HER rather than Kris. Poor Kris is the player character, but Susie seems to be the *main* character here, and I really like that. She is the figure shown in the very center in the prophecy shared by Ralsei, after all... It seems like the game is setting her up to be really important to its narrative and themes, and this animation elaborates on that in a way that feels natural, especially since it takes place several chapters into the future, during which Susie may very well become more and more central. I rambled a little... What's important is that I love this! It's so fascinating! I love your portrayal of Kris and Susie in particular, but there was so much else to appreciate too. I hope I get to see more!!

This animation is awesome overall, the chill-ish vibe, the Spongebob reference, connections to your other animations, everything, but oh my gosh those ending cutscenes are something else. The animations, the lore and theories they're based off of, it almost feels like something that I would see in chapter 6. I just feel like this AU you are creating here is just absolutely in sync with my perceptions and theories of the game, almost to a tee. Now I can only imagine a scene similar to the one at 18:56 showing up in actual Deltarune but with SNES super fx graphics and with the music using the Starfox/Vortex soundfonts.
