I love how Toby Fox created a much more real dimension to his universe with the Chaos King. In Undertale, the moral was a bit like "everyone is nice you just need to hug them to stop them". Another question: who is the knight, anyway? Who could have the ability to pull up fountains from nothing? Is it someone we know already or just a new character outright? Is it... Chara? I think so, personally; if a “lightner” with a powerful soul can seal fountains, could not such power on the flip side create the very same fountain? Also, giving the darkners power via extra fountains might eventually give them access to the above world, and, knowing the King’s sentiments, many a so-called “lightner” would be killed in the ensuing invasion... which is exactly what Chara would want, assuming his motives are the same as before.
