It’s super cool that this character rose up from being a literal NPC by using his new knowledge to Highjack his Boss rush area. I’m guessing if it wasn’t for Gaster Occazio would have a role similar to the Hacker and his blue checks in chapter 2. It’s also a cool spamton parallel, not only does this guy have the string metaphor, Spamton was also a NPC: a Addison. He just didn’t know enough/wasn’t as sane as Occazio so didn’t get this far. Also nice Megalo sneak in. It actually seems natural in this context as this is might be the last “Normal” secret boss in your AU before they become actual gods/connect to the main story.

I'd imagine defeating him would result in him rewinding the fight in a similar manner to determination, so you'd have to find a way to defeat him and prevent him from turning back time, but he happens to be trying to figure out the same, with it being a race, Determination vs Chronokinesis, who can break the other first... With Susie and Ralsei being confused on the sidelines as to what he's talking about "this being the [x] time fighting this guy"

What a cool character concept. The music really captures the feeling that this guy was an unsuspecting side character once who rose to be something more. The fantasy like instruments and that old school flute sound (which I know of because of Klonoa) and the slightly whimsical feel to the music really drives home that concept somehow. The menacing, corrupted voice and otherworldly parts of the track, for example the screaming at the start, that weird squeaking noise representing the more twisted parts of the character. Him being able to use parts of the code to his advantage is neat too. I feel like this guy would be way harder to fight than Spamton for example though, because he‘s achieved what Spamton wanted to, but Occazio wants more. Spamton struggled to find success since what made him famous was his outside help. With Occazio, it seems like he used the knowledge he gained to alter this dark world so he could become more powerful. He seems much more in control. So, good job! Your Deltarune USTs are some of the best out there, it’s always a joy to receive a notification from this channel. Edit: some I forgot to mention is that this guy just appeals to me a lot. I’m a sucker for powerful clock related characters.

At first I didn’t understand why the Megalovania motif was in the song, but then it hit me. Megalomania is “an obsession with the exercise of power” with synonyms like “self-importance” and “delusions of grandeur. Occazio's goal is to become more powerful by absorbing Kris's Determination and evolve into a Titan and then a God, and keep in mind that he had already become a Transdual Being (which according to Dess' notes, might as well be considered a God compared to normal Lightners and Darkners) yet still wanted to keep pushing beyond the limits of power, all because he wasn't content with being a simple inconsequential NPC and desired to be someone more powerful, someone more important. With that in mind, the Megalovania motif fits him perfectly, as, like Frisk (and to an extent, Chara, by the end of the route) in Undertale, he wants to reach the apex of power.

@@Kai-Seirre Yeah, there's also the Blue Soul Mode, but I wouldn't consider that a valid reason for the motif to be there, you know? Toby didn't add the Power Of NEO motif in the Spamton NEO Fight because of the Yellow Soul Mode. He added it because Spamton was using the NEO body that, most likely, Deltarune Mettaton designed. There was an in-universe reason for that, so I thought it must’ve been the same here.

@@Kai-Seirre Uhhhhhhhhhhhhh… You got me there. In all honesty, I don't understand the reason for most of the motifs that ZET put in Signal Of Freedom to be there other than because of the Soul Mode. In BIG SHOT, Toby included the Power Of NEO motif because Spamton was using the NEO body that was almost definitely designed by Deltarune Mettaton, and the Dummy! motif because not only is he both metaphorically and literally a puppet on strings (like a dummy), but also MAYBE because the body he is wearing is connected to Mettaton who is a ghost, who in turn is connected to the Mad Dummy who is just a ghost in this universe as well. There was meaning to the use of these motifs, both thematically and interconnected through both of the TFCUs (Toby Fox Cinematic Universes). In Signal Of Freedom however, there doesn't seem to be any meaning behind the motifs present there, at least not that I can see. ZET added the Spider Dance motif, but for what reason? Is Foane connected to Muffet somehow? Is it because her power to use and control strings is similar to Muffet using and controlling spider webs to trap you? I don't know, to me, that just doesn't seem like a good reason to insert the motif into the song. He then included the Uwa! themes' motif (The theme that plays when you're in the configuration screen in Undertale that changes with the Season but has the same motif) into the song, and I'm genuinely confused with this one. Is it because Chapter 3 is the TV World and it has the weather channel? I can't think of any other reason for this one. And finally, the It's Raining Somewhere Else motif. I have no idea. This motif is Sans', so is Foane connected to Sans somehow? Is it because Toriel is friends with Sans? Is it because Toriel calls Sans on the landline phone (Who, of course, is Foane)? Is there some kind of thematic reason for the placement of this motif? I don't know! It doesn’t make sense! Don't get me wrong, I think ZET has the BEST Deltarune fan content I have seen from this community, but this is just something that personally iffed me and I think could use some work, along with other tracks like Showtime Is Over (although this one has a different problem), World Of Faith and Faithful Knight (though it's just a very small nitpick of mine, since the track is great already), or actually just those three (since the rest of my nitpicks are a small writing decision and a check text in Helel's First Encounter video and a few uses of the Freedom motif) since other than that? Everything else is amazing! The songs, the lore, the character designs and even the animations… Everything is just top notch! Whew…! This comment sure went somewhere. Sorry for the big reply to your short reply. Hope I got my point about the motifs across though.

Basically he becomes a version who of Icarus, and flies too close to the sun. I’d imagine him suddenly realizing at the last moment that he just targeted himself, being barely able to say “OH S”before he’s literally erased from existence. He doesn’t even get any sort of post battle speech, you just pick up the Crystal and his remains as the boss drop. Just because he became free from being controlled, doesn’t mean he’s exempt from the consequences of his actions.

So he makes a deal with the lightners, he turns into an item and they set everyone free or he will do it for them. Honestly, I think this was the original idea, since an older post said that his only weakness was that he was too confident.

My favorite thing about this song using the Megalovania leitmotif is how it can fit Occazio and Deltarune on several levels: First, and the most obvious, he’s the Super Boss who uses the Blue Soul. Hence, Sans. Second: Unless I’m mistaken, Papyrus in this AU seems to be the Knight, aka the game’s main antagonist. So it makes sense for Occazio, who is fighting on behalf of his own motives, to not use Papyrus leitmotifs, even if he’s the main “blue soul” fight in Undertale; Papyrus is already a key player in this game. Occazio’s moved _beyond_ its rules. And third: A common observation about Megalovania’s use is that it always underscores the intentions of a megalomaniac. Dr. Andonuts, Vriska, the Player (and heck, the designation actually _does_ work for Sans himself if viewed through a certain lens)… people obsessed with their own power. And who is Occazio? He’s an all-powerful being who’s broken the rules of reality for his own gain. But his confidence in his absolute power is his undoing. That’s the kind of foresight that deserves major props. Good stuff, seriously. Oh, uh, also great touch having “here we go again” allude to this Dark World’s time loop. Smaller thing, but I caught that and I thought I’d mention it too :3

I really like this concept of secret boss. Instead of being an Outcast needing Kris help and then betraying them, Occazio controls an entire section of the Dark world and challenges the entire DeltaGang to climb his tower. (I know I'm replying 1 year later) Yeah, and something that supports that notion is that the Freedom motif doesn't play fully. It only plays the first few notes, and either the other half is way too difficult to hear (which still fits) or it's just gone. I also have a theory that the "freer" the bosses get, the Freedom motif in their songs (ironically) become quieter or affected in ways that reduce it on some level. Seeing the bosses we have so far, this may actually fit; Jevil has already accepted it, which is why his Freedom motif is so clear and loud. Spamton's Freedom motif, while still being slightly clear, there still seems to be some sort of attempt to cover it up, with the Power of NEO motif and the secret lyrics coming in to distort the motif. And, the motif is also interrupted once every few seconds by Power of NEO too. The state of Spamton himself also proves this, since as another comment mentioned, like Occazio, Spamton used to be an NPC who then ascended to become the secret boss. Yet, Spamton didn't get that far since he's clearly held by strings in his NEO form and doesn't have as much control as Occazio does. Occazio also follows this theory, as we know he is pretty much ascending to Godhood and is close to breaking free, and the Freedom motif sections follow this theory, the sections being broken up and incomplete, because again, he is quite close to breaking free. The only real thing I see that could disprove this theory is that the Freedom motif section in BIG SHOT seems to be a moment of clarity since it's not exactly as distorted as the other parts of the song, as it's the section of the song that goes the longest without the lyrics (the normal sections of the song have lyrics every few seconds), but besides that, I think it's a pretty sound theory. And who knows? If this theory is true, we may eventually see a secret boss that has achieved freedom and therefore lacks the Freedom motif in their song.

Honestly,i really like how occazio themes sound kinda broken and glitchy,really reinforces the felling that this guy did something to game that he was NOT supposed to be able to do and is breaking boundaries of game by doing so. also i really like use of leitmotifs,as someone pointed out,megalovania makes a ton of sense considering occazio intentions,but i really like how there's gaster theme thrown in there too since both have same level of intelligency and have ties to space and time especially the latter (assuming gaster is dess teacher which im 92% sure) also addressing elephant in the room gaster is the guy who gives secret bosses true knowledge about world,but that ties more to freedom leitmotif than to gaster since it applies to every other secret boss. also freedom leitmotif, its pretty easy to spot out and to figure out why its there.occazio is secret boss that's first he seeks freedom and he almost got it that's second and he also got string metaphor. that's third also really like inclusion of voice lines and ticking of clock really adds to personality of this song.

By cutting all strings, Occazio no longer needs to use magic to move or talk which he was forced to do since he was restricted by dialogue and code, Without that need, he has a massive power-up, by all means, he is a free NPC. But he is still not happy with that, so he plans on becoming a Titan by absorbing the Soul and later, become not only the main character of the game, but also a God.

Though now I’m confused as to what would happen if he beats Kris in a fight. Normally the game would go back to the past save point and the fight would begin again (skipping the start dialogue), but Occazio is beyond the code, so wouldn’t he just snatch up the soul and claim his place as the main character? The only other thing I can thing of that would stop that change could be Gaster, though it still seems uncertain… I don’t know heh. Merely theorizing here

i only know of this guy from a freedom motif compilation, but i ended up thinking up something for him anyways (tell me how right i am, because i have no clue and i assume the description has something but i wont read that yet) occazio was a traveling magician, his tricks possible using time manipulation to awe the audience. he was known throughout the dark world as one of the most talented and famous, until someone figured out his trick... the ones who once cheered for his acts now ignored his shows, leaving him with nothing else. (thats all i had except for the fact that he kinda sounded like astrochew)

you essentially got nothing right occazio was originally a simple joke npc who told a goofy pun about time. however, the fact that this pun changed depending on your computer's system time meant that he was packaged with a degree of metaknowledge. he managed to develop his physical and mental abilities all on his own, managing to pull himself into becoming a Transdual entity, something that is neither lightner nor darkner, as well as a gaster-level genius. occazio's dream was to ensure that nobody would ever be as chained down by such a basic and diminuitive destiny as his, and destroy destiny as a whole, breaking the strings of every lightner and darkner. however, to be able to do this, he would have to start a war in Heaven, pitting the lighter and darker worlds agaisnt each other in a battle of unimaginable destruction. to be able to come up on top, he aimed to ascend to godhood. the first step was to secretly drain the Pure Light that Kris and Susie hold by forcing them to compete in the Challenge Tower that he runs, allowing him to become a Pseudotitan, a creature that can use both Light and Darkness. from there, he needed kris' soul, which contained time manipulating abilities that could overwrite even his own. eventually, occazio tires himself out through fighting, and realises that he would be unable to achieve his dream on his own. instead, he decides to become an ally to the delta warriors, hoping that he may be able to let them use his power to free the world.

now i dont know much about this character, but i love characters that have to do with time, and my theory (probably very wrong) is that he doesnt want to be another npc type character, like spamton. but he's not desperate like how spamton was- he's more concentrated and focused. when he cuts his final string, his internal timer is ticking down, aka he's slowly dying and needs kris' SOUL to survive/become a god. which is why he keeps mentioning time/putting timers on the player for specific tasks. i haven't read much more other than some comments and the description. but this is a pretty interesting take for a boss fight.

You’re almost correct. So essentially, he was formerly a 4th wall breaking static NPC who would make time puns when interacted with, he also was pretty much just a clock with a top hat and skinny, short limbs. However, after receiving knowledge, his by _sheer willpower_ he managed to work his way up to Transdual Being, meaning he is not bound by the rules of the game and so he can animate his talksprites and do generally odd stuff to the game’s code. When the lightners arrive, he drains their HP throughout the fourteen total floors of his challenge tower, which lets him absorb their pure light. Such pure light contrasts with his pure darkness, in a process similar to nuclear fusion, and he would have eventually started to generate determination as a result, effectively turning him into a Pseudo Titan, a step down from a god. All he would need at that point is the soul in order to become one of them, and by that point, he would become Occazio, God of Hypertime.

Honestly, feels like the fight wouldn’t be a normal one, instead you have to survive a set amount of turns and wait for Occazio to use checksum to fix the Soul constant, which probably ends the fight after it works in our favour Sweet, sweet speculations

Look ZET's music is a banger, the only thing i find slightly irratating about the secret boss themes is how the freedom leitmotif is extremely faint in them. Yet in BIG SHOT it was really easy to find, i dunno if it's supposed to mean something or what but it slighty annoys me.
