In deltarune, no matter how rude or nice you are to people, it will never change the storyline. But it changes your reputation. *Edit: In the pacifist ending, the king was overthrown by everyone. In the neutral / massacre ending, the king was pacified by susie. The king may have been dealt with by Lancer, Ralsei and everyone else in the neutral / massacre ending, we just didn't get to see it.

I love how in Undertale, every decision you make matters and how reactive it is, even if the tiniest of ways. Example, if you beckon, pet and play with greater dog he’ll lick you and then walk away, showing up at grillby’s later. If you ignore him, he keeps inching closer until he walks away, deciding you’re boring. And if you kill him, well, you’ll never see him again. And killing the one character might even change your entire ending. But in Deltarune, it’s the complete opposite and you don’t get a choice, and it constantly reminds you of this. love that tho

quite accurate tho when youre in a fight and the opponent is shouting loudly or just anything to intimidate you, there's a fair chance that he's not actually that good in fighting. But if your opponent silently walks toward you, its best to not risk getting anywhere near him.

It’s the end that matters, no matter you do, no matter what the dialogue says, it’s the same ending, the ending with kris taking his soul, putting it away, and holding up a knife. Nothing you can change about it, it’s always going to be the same ending. That’s why your choices don’t matter happens, you can’t do anything about it. You don’t get killed, the ending is the same.

0.107200 Gaming True. But the ending isn’t what I find fascinating about this “your choices don’t matter” thing. The pacifist and aggressive routes spell out HUGELY different consequences for the Dark World. The ultimate ending may be the same, but in pacifist, the King is overthrown and everything is great. Meanwhile in the aggressive route, Susie puts the King to sleep, but he’s still the king. Nobody ever bothered to release the people he’s imprisoned. Meaning Lancer’s gonna have a word or two when the King wakes up. Not to mention none of the evil things the King has done are fixed. Basically in the aggressive route the Dark World is absolutely screwed, whereas in the pacifist route it’s getting better.

That's interesting...I played through and got the "good" ending with Lancer deposing the king, but got some of the "violent" dialogue with the Darkners in the Castle. Rudinn was upset but forgave me after I apologized, as did Hathy. I had forgotten to warn a few Rudinn about Susie's attacks because I had had to come back and finish the game later but remembered in time not to completely ruin my reputation, I guess 😅

Tbh, I'm also worried about my beloved Lancer, even if he becomes King in Pacifist. And I don't even want to imagine what happens in the Massacre Ending, when his Dad wakes up AND has the support of his full Army. Please tell me Lancer goes to prison for a little while, eats a bit of moss, and then we arrive to save him!

Not to mention Ralsei, since he'd probably get locked up and have to use his magic to WAKE UP THE KING... And there's no doubt that Lancer will be locked away after the violent ending since if he didn't block the throne room door Kris and Susie probably wouldn't have made it to the fountain. Personally, if our actions don't truly matter, we might not see the dark world (or at least this one) for a long time.

regardless of the ending being the same. i believe choices still matter. do you want to leave the darkner world hated and feared more then they did their cruel king, or would you rather leave it more peaceful and happy then when you arrived? you can argue the message of the game and the technicality of "thats not THE end of the game though" and "regardless of how it happened, it still happens" and you are not wrong, but im a high believer that if your actions leave the state of those they effect differently (and they definately do here) then that matters. i would rather leave the darkners happy and under the new rule of lancer, then in that hatefull and fearfull state of doing things the cruel way, every time. that matters to me. it may not stop Kris from throwing the shakles of our controll over them in the end, nor how the people of the town see Kris, but in my heart, if i've made a difference of any kind thats positive or negative, base on my choices, then in the end, thats enough for me to consider those choices mattering. and if you disagree, well thats just telling of your morals, isnt it. I think everyone focuses on the ending WAY too much. It's the fact that your choices don't matter that the ending doesn't matter. It's not a coincidence that the perspective of the people change depending on what route you take.
