Sans and Papyrus being walking paradoxes is perfectly in-character for them. Their physics defying abilities and disregard for game mechanics would also make sense considering they'd be sort of videogame characters in-universe. That begs the question though, what happened to the skeletons from Undertale's world? Did they ever exist? Did they use to but not anymore (like Rudy Holiday)? So many questions...
@DirectalYT7 ай бұрын
My interpretation: sans and papyrus came from deltarune. They escaped from the roaring, then ended up in undertale. During that time faster was still the royal scientist. Sans told him about the dark worlds, and gaster tried to make his own, but messed up. He FELL into the dark world, shattered him across time and space. Sans’ machine could be the machine that brought him there

when you started talking about time loops i was imagining the jaru thing and immediately became disinterested, but when you started going over the looparound with deltarune and undertale and how sans’s very existence is sort of a weird paradoxical stable time loop, it started making a lot of sense and i think i actually like that theory, much much more than just deltarune on its own being the loop. it’d explain a lot of the weirdness with the relations between the two games and how either way the connection is there but doesn’t fully make sense, if it’s weird timey wimey bullshit of course it wouldn’t fully make sense if you try to think of it in normal terms, with gaster being shattered across time and space and not really existing normally in spacetime, why WOULD stuff like that be normal edit: i actually just remembered something else, it almost reminds me of a “solution” of sorts to the grandfather paradox i heard proposed once, which was that it creates a looping cycle of “your grandpa is alive ==> you’re born ==> you go back and kill him ==> your grandpa isn’t alive ==> you’re never born ==> you don’t exist to be able to kill him ==> your grandpa is alive ==> you’re born ==> […]” i.e. each outcome directly results in the other, but they’re mutually exclusive, so the timeline oscillates between the two, and i think it’s very possible that something along the lines of this could be happening with the worlds of undertale and deltarune

Please read the following carefully, because I believe that out of all theorists at the moment, you're one who's on the right track to figuring out the truth of these games. Take into account the picture that you can see in Sans's workshop PRIOR to Clam Girl/the "don't forget" text. It says, "There's a photo album inside the drawer. There are photos of Sans with a lot of people you don't recognize. He looks happy." I'd argue that this is more important than the "don't forget" message as to his origins. By the time we've seen this picture in UNDERTALE, we've met everyone. Everyone who's in the Light World in DELTARUNE are all people that we've met from UNDERTALE. This means... At some point, Sans will be a Darkner that we will recruit and bring to Castle Town. The Sans in the Light World currently is a time-traveler/dimension-hopper from UNDERTALE. You can't argue that THAT version of Sans is going to go with us to Castle Town at some point, because the photo album implies that Sans was in a place that he seemed happy in, a place that he thought of as home. Time also seems to flow differently within Dark Worlds, with entire histories playing out and characters knowing each other from Dark Worlds that haven't even existed yet. Ralsei even comments that it's been so long since he had last seen Kris and Susie, which I think is more than a throwaway joke relating to the game's development. In the Light World, on the other hand, THAT version of Sans has JUST MOVED THERE. To sum everything up, there's multiple versions of Sanses running around in DELTARUNE, but it's also the place that he originated from.

The one thing to keep in mind about a lot of the "ties" from Undertale to Deltarune is Toby very obviously put them all there on purpose, later, to literally lead us into Deltarune. It might be plot related but it also might have been just to tease us about the game. Of course, there is always the very important fact that he originally had ideas for Deltarune first, and turned that into Undertale instead before deciding to actually do the deltarune thing for real. It has always seemed to me that the parallels were more just leftovers from that original transition into becoming undertale INSTEAD of his original idea, even if he ends up leaning into those story wise later
@otherlego7 ай бұрын
26:30 in regards to "something you find everywhere"... it's actually not. throughout undertale the only places there are green grass is in new and old home, respectively. where there's light from the surface. you show the start of the game but thats basically one of the only places you see grass in undertale. so why did you so easily assume its something thats everywhere? because it's not everywhere in undertale.... but it's everywhere on the surface.
@AmbientRainfall7 ай бұрын
Well, cause I feel like grass is just a... thing to assume is everywhere! The underground is no stranger to plantation, and while it's natural to assume we see all of the underground, green grass is as ubiquitous as something like... sunlight. But unlike sunlight, you can find plants all over the place in the underground! I felt like focusing on the framing around the green grass question was more important than emphasizing how often we actually see green grass.

Saying that Gerson made up his stories is actually crazy
@AmbientRainfall6 ай бұрын
Listen, I have something to tell you, about your grandpa... He wasn't actually a professional wrestler. He says he was never a hero twice in the evil route, and I mean, there'd be no reason for him to lie about that to you. He says he knows you can't fight him in there, so it's not like it's any form of cover. He mentions not being a hero more than he does claiming to be one, and honestly I think one of the major reasons that dialogue is there at all in the evil route is because most people will have gone out of their way to learn about Gerson at the end of Pacifist. In general, the evil route reveals a lot of things about the game's characters.
@Paragon_CZ6 ай бұрын
Undyne literally calls him the toughest monster to have ever lived and also the “hammer of justice” in her phone call. Pair that with how Gerson says that Undyne watched him beat up bad guys and it becomes clear that they’re not just stories. I still think him saying that he never was a hero is a cover up. I mean hey, you managed to find a way to attack sans twice on the same turn, surely with enough determination you could find a way to attack a shopkeeper.
@AmbientRainfall6 ай бұрын
@@Paragon_CZ Sorry but I don't think Undyne also knowing about the hammer of justice thing really proves that? You're a kid. She's probably either in on it or she got told the same stories. Notice how she doesn't mention fighting people with him at all? I mean, in DELTARUNE the "Lord of the Hammer" thing is literally a story made up by him. I can't read that as anything other than a fun inversion of the established text. Old people making up crazy stories so young people will find them cooler is just a thing that happens. Why would Gerson lie about something like that to you when he openly admits to not being scared of you?
@Paragon_CZ6 ай бұрын
@@AmbientRainfall not being scared doesn’t equal “I can beat you in a fight”. (Nobody can stop Frisk at that point which he probably realized). Also wouldn’t him not being scared point to the fact that he did indeed have a lot of experience as a hero? Because if it were all just made up stories, I fail to see him being as composed as he is. As for your Undertale and Deltarune connection, we still have no idea what the relationship between the two is. Undyne was a hero in Undertale but in Deltarune she’s just a police officer so what does it matter that Gerson is a storyteller in Deltarune?
@ofconsciousness6 ай бұрын
When he said he was never a hero, I took that as him being modest and wanting to elevate his fellow fighters like Asgore. I figured he might be grieving the loss of friends you've killed or might soon kill, and so he's just thinking of how great they are and how honored he felt to know them. Okok, You know what, just seen it already lol, really and really, what a cool theory, i mean, yeah it kinda explains some stuff and points, but i think it doesn't have some others obviously, bc i also was thinking about papyrus. If, in Deltarune it's normal to know and see blood (well, have bleeding, bc unused sprites of Susie, but the thing was in the Dark world in Ch2, and one kid in a door on the Lightworld telling Kris is made of blood, yeah, the blood thing it's weird here) this maybe explains sans bleeding and not being ketchup, or stupid red determation, something like that, (always hope and think it's ketchup lol,) but the thing it's Papyrus, if they came from Deltarune, paps says that he lived in a place with green grass, it's Deltarune, but, in Undertale he doesn't bleed, his body it's dust, and his head falls, but all it's dust from a monster, a magic monster, not the monsters from the Lightworld in Deltarune, but i think maybe there is some speculation about paps being replaced or brainwashed maybe, but that doesn't work for me... you said that papyrus it's the weird part and maybe it's a lost case... but maybe someone has a better idea for him And the second, just maybe bc the loop paradox thing got me thinking, and it's a funny way to put it, maybe i can understand it a lots of ways if someone give me points too, i'm gonna put it this way, "Which came first, the chicken or the egg?" if sans it's important for gaster in Undertale to him creating Deltarune's world, but sans it's from Deltarune, then, *¿where did he came from in the first time the loop has ocurred, or when did the paradox started?* If it was Deltarune then how did we get Deltarune in the first place? bc sans from Deltarune that Gaster wasn't doing yet helped him in Undertale? (That's how the paradox work?... Right?) or ¿There are two sans? And one after another replaces the Alternate Universe and timeline they live on and keep going until the Infinity? This it's driving me insane in some kind of things... All things are tied, by the inexplicable strings and chains they make, all of them, but some things are just meant to don't be understood... For now. (Sorry if i didn't get the point of the video at all by this comment, or maybe i didn't learn about the paradox concept at all, i just put my mind to think overall stuff and i'm not that good at listening on english bc that's not my primary language lol, but still amazing video and great theory! hope you make more of them and also hope people give more opinions and points of this!!!)
