Just a theory of mine but I feel like Noelle, Dess, Berdly, and Kris went into the bunker and saw the knight. And because the knight was making a dark world, being that the 4 were kids they would of course be scared. But not all of them managed to escape the bunker, leaving dess behind trapped in that dark world. If at the end of chapter 3 or 4 we see noelle at the bunker. This theory might hold some merit.

@@catthatlooksatyoufunny7377 It would make sense because Spamton has a strong phone motif and seems to pick up random signals from the internet and incorporate it into his speech. So maybe he could pick up Dess' message due to that. He also is strongly implied to be some kind of glitch (his wildly off-model sprites, strange way of moving/talking, he's labeled a "cat" in the code, pipis being a misspelling of the word Toby Fox uses for glitches/bugs, constantly changing shop prices, etc.) so it's possible he could randomly pick up Dess' message from the code of the game.

I've held onto this crazy theory that the Snowgrave spell is a violent manifestation of past trauma that Noelle had repressed, and I think it may be a hint as to what happened to December. The key idea behind this theory is how out-of-place Noelle's dialogue feels after the spell is performed. Specifically, the line "I don't feel so good. I think I'm going to go home," seems odd because Noelle is in the middle of an unfamiliar city, with no bearing as to where 'home' is. I think it feels out of place because it is literally out of place; this line was not a reaction to current events. Instead, Noelle is fully reliving a moment in her past, induced by our insistence on pushing her to do terrible things, and the trance state she is in due to the thorn ring.

@@Mankofa Right? Thanks to the snowgrave route, we know that Noelle's initial response to trauma is to black out and repress the memory. She can't even remember things she did minutes after she did them. I feel like this detail really helps strengthen this theory.

Theory: Ralsei states multiple times that only Kris’s soul can seal fountains despite the fact that anyone can open them. What if the Player soul came from the bunker’s dark world as an experiment in artificial souls, and when Kris and Dess explored the bunker their own souls were trapped inside. Kris only escaped because their soul was replaced by the player’s soul trapping the children in darkness. Only “Kris’s” soul can seal the fountains because it is made with pure darkness, and only it can save them, but first Kris must open dark worlds to find them. Edit: what if in in a future chapter we find them and Kris abandons us. Our new vessel will be revealed to be the one we created in the opening of chapter 1.

The Queen said that the Knight created the fountain through their determination, which (excluding Undyne and the Amalgams) is something exclusive to humans. Also, even though Queen and Ralsei thought Noelle or Berdly could make a dark fountain, we never actually see a monster make one. Queen admits she didn't know the full story and was just acting based on the Knight's actions, and Ralsei was convinced that the Queen knew what she was talking about. It's possible they were just mistaken in thinking all lightners could make fountains.

I know that people talk about taking a month off, but I gotta say, it went too far with Dess Don't really have much to contribute besides dumb jokes, but I will say that the connection between the police force and Dess could be why you can specifically talk to Undyne about Dark Worlds, maybe that's why Kris wants to convince her that they're real

@@Dorked actually, with the release of chapter 2… kris doesn’t have a file anymore. I replayed chapter 1 to make a new main save file (i somehow missed the original starwalker in my first run), and that first save point no longer showed a saved file for kris. It just said “empty“. That might be worth looking into

@@dededeletethis9940 I can help! This is another case of things changing between Save files. Kris's Save file disappears permanently once you save, and changing files doesn't change this. So when you go to Save for the first time, the file says Kris, but when you start a new file, it reads [EMPTY] This is one of the only things to change between Save files, along with some Egg shenanigans and Jevil's item and shadowcrystal

Did you know that if you equip Noelle with any ribbons she mentions they seem familiar... which is interesting as there is no ribbon just laying in the computer lab meaning these exist in the Dark World itself... Dess got lost in the Dark World somehow or had an involvement at least. It gets worse when you realize Noelle and her Sister made an Angel and Noelle is an Angel in the Dark World. Angel's Heaven takes on many different meanings now.

I think the Dess is trapped in the code theory is one that people seem to agree more and more, if it end up being true the question would be how do we save her? the Bunker is clearly a huge part of the plot and I and many people think it will be the last Dark Fountain. A lot of things seems to be conected to this bunker so far, Kris being afraid, Dess dissaperance, this causing Asgore to be fired, which also could had been why Toriel and Asgore are divorced. Dess dissapearance brought Ruin for both the Hollidays and The Dreemurs family. And Undyne being the only one that Kris have a chooice about telling her about the Dark Worlds Both chapters. Kris stabing the tires of Toriel's car was for two things, to keep Susie with them and to bring the police, they want to show Undyne that the Dark World exist and it could be becuase, as some people mention, they saw Dess being engulped and trapped on one.

Honestly, I kind of think the Castle Town Dark Fountain could be the last fountain, since the door leading to it has 6 wings around it, one for each preceding chapter/Dark Fountain, and Ralsei becoming an antagonist to the player or even to Kris seems very plausible (if sad and undesirable). Also of note: Not-Onionsan hearing a familiar song that they can't quite place coming from deep in the lake.

Well I don't know about an atagonist, there could be a moment that we had to fight Ralsei, maybe in the Weird Route or maybe becuase he is tired of keep pretending for the player. Whatever end up happening it will likely be bittersweet. Yeah, we still don't know what's that singing from the lake, is so strange.

I had the same idea. Everyone is always like "ooooh bunker, gaster!" no... ffs. I am pretty certain that it is connected to Dess. Given that Noelle, Asriel, Dess and Kris used to explore creepy places when they were younger, I think it's pretty obvious that they might have explored the bunker as well, and maybe something happened there.

The bunker probably IS connected to gaster on some level (given the noise it makes being the same "garbage noise" you get when using the phone in the dark world), but I don't think it's JUST Gaster. I think there's a lot of little pieces intersecting to make up the grander story here.

Dess could have stumbled upon Gaster’s bunker with Kris and after seeing inside they tried to escape but only Kris could, perhaps giving Gaster a reason to replace Kris’ soul with ours. I think the bunker is related to everything, Gaster, Dess’ disappearance, our soul being in Kris, the dark worlds, and all that jazz, maybe even to the knight and the Titans from the roaring.

@@Drotdog I don't think gaster was the one who replaced kris's soul with ours, because at the end of choosing our vessel, the uppercase text was about to say something then it suddenly cut to black and this time a *lowercase* text informed us that our vessel will be discarded. So if we assume that gaster speak in uppercase then the lowercase is a different entity that interpreted gaster when he was about to give us the vessel and then transferred our soul to kris. Maybe it's chara the narrator or maybe something else.

I personnally interpreted Spamton as brainwashed in some way, and the "voice talking through him" as his true self trying to reach out. It seems like when Spamton speaks in lower case, it's his true self. Plus, there are no glitches and hyperlinks in his lower case dialogues, meaning his brainwash might just be a glich or corruption (Ralsei even describes him as a corrupted program). At least, that's how I interpret it all.

The main reason I think the "can you hear me" line isn't him is that he speaks as though it is a different person, and it's consistent with the unused text all the way from chapter 1. I DO think in the case of the knight dialogue it was him freaking out, though. Definitely see why some would interpret it as his true self, but the similarities to the unused text seem like a super conscious move on Toby's fault, especially since he added more unused text of a similar nature.

Addition to this theory: Dess is the Knight. Trapped in the dark world, they've been opening fountains in the hope of someone stumbling in. This explains why fountains are just appearing in random locations, such as the library and school, as opposed to in the forest where no-one would find it. It also explains how fountains can be opened in the same room as Berdly and Noelle without them ever seeing them (unless we consider the Knight hides in the large closet and leaves under the cover of the fountain mist). Furthermore, the Queen takes immediate interest in Noelle as her key to opening fountains despite knowing any Lightener can do it and having Berdly ever so keen to help. In the car trip, she specifically says that she believes Noelle is strong (which is true), but she has no reason to believe this. Now consider that the Queen has seen Dess as the Knight, seen her abilities to open a fountain, and hence is certain Noelle, the sister, could do the same. There's only one small hole I can see in this theory, and that's why can't Dess leave the dark world by closing a fountain. It is possible however that only Kris can close fountains, possibly being the importance of having a human soul. Despite the Legend eluding to three heroes closing fountains, Ralsei doesn't even approach the fountain in Chapter 1, and Kris does it completely alone in Chapter 2 meaning Susie likely doesn't contribute. Finally, going back to The Legend, possibly Dess opened the first Dark Fountain in Castle Town. Hence, banishing Angel's Heaven, is referring to destroying the world made by an 'angle', a believed deceased girl who has created a world based on her imagination. This also explains Ralsei. He exists only knowing his role is to help a hero in closing fountains. This also explains why Ralsei looks like Asriel - Dess was their friend and made Ralsei in their image. There is also a lot of potential for a strong narrative here. It explains the side-bosses, who Dess would have made in her image. Jevil was made first, feeling free in an imaginary world of his creation, but later after opening the second fountain, she now feels trapped, and hence makes Spamton who desperately tries to break free. Lastly, it means that the story will culminate in letting go of this imaginary world and all the beloved friends we have made, in order to save someone very 'deer' to the characters.

@@Mr.Yahoo_ Regardless, she knows it requires Determination and has seen it happen and met the Knight. If she knew the Knight was human she would have targeted Kris. She even truced with us but her only interest in using us was to find Noelle. This obsession is clear; she gave Noelle the pin and everything, she had both Berdly and Kris as attentive candidates, and yet Noelle is beyond everything. Maybe there is some alternate reason for this obsession, but its definitely not clear. Also, note how Ralsei doesn't freak out until Berdly attempts to open a fountain. For some reason Ralsei is either extremely knowledgeable or making up lies, but the fact that he genuinely thinks Berdly has the potential is a key indicator the Queen was right.

Did you guys notice the cracks at the beginning of the ch2's dark fountain? Maybe it's because when noelle came, she fought her way to Queen but blacked out, that's when our characters came and saw noelle kneeling just like in snowgrave route, and then Queen kidnaps her. The guys from the beginning would make sense if they were afraid of noelle and they may have addressed her as "she" or "her" though those npcs are cryptic so I cannot tell for certain.

I could see that maybe Kris first experienced the dark world through Dess? Maybe something went wrong and Dess helped Kris escape which is why they both initially feared the Ch. 1’s dark world in the closet and have some issues with the red bunker. Perhaps Kris is opening these Dark world to attempt to find Dess and maybe help the others get a clue for where she could have gone?? Ps. I’ve been thinking further on this theory and have a minor thing to add, what if Asriel was there in some part? Maybe he wasn’t there when the bunker incident took place, but probably took Kris to the Diner to calm them down. Maybe that’s why Kris gets so worked up when they drink the hot chocolate in chapter 1. “You drank the hot chocolate. It tastes wonderful. Your throat tightened…” It’s most likely just referencing the fact Kris hasn’t been there in a while, that they used to go with Asriel, and they really miss him. Though, I’ve been thinking it could also be a subtle reference to Dess’ disappearance, if this theory proves to be correct.

Relating to the Bunker, I had a theory that ties several things together. Asgore and Toriel's divorce, Asgore stepping down from Police Chief, The Festival, The Bunker, Kris' Trauma surrounding the Bunker, and Dess' disappearance. This is my theory: The festival is a major event in town. Asgore and the rest of the Police Force provided security. Toriel took Kris and Asriel there, and the Hollidays were there too. Somehow Kris and Dess get separated from the others. They find the bunker and something happens. Kris is left traumatized and Dess is nowhere to be found. Asgore is blamed by the Hollidays for Dess going missing under his watch, and Toriel is pissed because 'something could have happened to Kris too'. Asgore steps down from the Police force and Toriel divorces him. No one believes Kris about the Bunker as seen in Chapter 2 when you go there with Susie

Noelle and Kris have 1 thing in common that's HUGE. They're both "missing" (put in quote bc it's unknown where Dess is) their siblings and are hurting because they were so connected to them/looked up to them. I don't know where I'm going with this, but I think it's key to something.

Noelle and Kris are essentially siblings in a whole lot of ways. They're closer than basically any 2 other characters in the game. It's a dynamic I feel will be really important as the chapters go on

noelle and kris are pretty similar in ways i hadnt realized when I first played this game. their siblings are gone, their dads arent really around, (despite wanting to be) and theyre stuck at home with their overbearing mothers. i think it means something too. theres no way it doesnt.

Another thing I wanna note is that Noelle is specifically involved with the Snowgrave route of the game, freezing monsters to their death. She specifically possesses snow rings even before she was on our team, and every time she became “stronger”, she wears new rings which possess stronger ice/snow related powers. Especially considering the secret dialogue of the iceshock attack at the light world around the end of Snowgrave. *I also realized just now that DT chapter two was released 3 months before December*

I'm a bit late but i have a pretty simple theory, i think that the bunker was the first dark world portal. Kris and Dess (I doubt Asriel or Noelle were there, Kris seems to be the only person with a reaction to the bunker), being curious children, went to go check out the bunker. As they opened the door, they saw the ominus darkness like what we saw in the closet. Dess, as the older child there, ventured in, while Kris stayed behind. As Dess got confused about the seemingly infinite space inside the bunker, she decided to go back. The doors of the bunker then slammed shut, like the closet door, and Dess falls into the Dark World. Since the bunker is such a dark and gloomy place, it's dark world is likely even gloomier, leaving Dess trapped in the darkness. This would explain the "Is anybody out there?" hidden lines (Though I'm not sure about the 'scratching part'). Kris, seeing their friend get trapped in the bunker, calls to undyne and asgore. When they open the door, they only see the inside of the bunker. An investigation begins, Asgore and Rudy explore the bunker, and Noelle is brought to stand by, feeling scared.. Rudy might have either gotten sick from the chemicals inside the bunker, or an strong snowstorm prevented the search's effectiveness, leading Asgore to call of the search. I personally believe it is the ladder, while a snowstorm wouldn't explain Rudy's illness (other than pneumonia ), it would explain Noelle's obsession with the cold. The Mayor gets infuriated with Asgore, firing him from the police. This would also explain Kris's hesitation to enter the closet, they step back, scared. Then after Kris enters the dark world multiple times throughout chapter 1 and 2, they realize that the portals can be crossed safely, and that Dess could maybe be saved. This leads to them ripping out their soul and creating a new portal, likely being pushed to do so by Susie after her idea to bring the dark world inhabitants to the light world. Kris would be even more motivated to find Dess after chapter 2 as well, after exploring the dark world with Noelle. The small comments about Dess that Noelle makes were probably also influencing Kris's decision to open another portal. They care about Noelle, and finding Dess would make her happy, make Rudy happy, and maybe also bring Asgore back to the police. sheesh that took a while, thanks for reading, and great video! I think Dess fell into a Dark World and Kris and the gang saw it happening but didnt realise at the time what happened, police did not understand either, but when Kris saw the dark world himself he realised everything. We can attempt to warn Undyne about it in both Chapter 1 and 2, Kris even points out that someone can fall into it, but Undyne doesnt believe it. At the end of Chapter 2 Kris slices the tires and Toriel calls the police, Kris opens the door and opens the dark world. I believe Kris did it so police could fall into the dark would and see what is going on themselfs. Chapter 4 and 5 will possible be about saving Dess if Kris's plan doesnt fail.

Maybe she lost in a snowstorm, that is why Noelle is Kinda afraid of ice things and why is her stronger power and snowstorm type that kills people, the fact that the song "Lost Girl" calls like that is very curious, and maybe when she dissapear they thought she died and the bunker is like her tombstone, perhaps she is in there or she was in the dark world all the time. What it's sure is that someone is missing, Dess, Gaster inclusive the real Kris, maybe we would have the answers in the next chapter, maybe not....

The cold motifs could have a lot of meanings! Some do think Dess got lost in a snowstorm or drowned in the lake. These are possibilities, but a big reason I think Dess is still alive and merely lost is the "you're lucky Dess isn't here" line from Noelle. That'd be a rather odd thing to say if she was confirmed dead.

That really doesn't seem to be the case. The alarm clock dialogue only shows that Asgore enjoyed coming to the Holidays' home, and that Rudy and him were pals from Hotland University, and that Rudy passed away for some reason (while Noelle and Dess didn't). Nothing as far as I've seen hinted at something weird like that.

I don't think Dess is dead. Mainly because we don't see her gravestone anywhere amongst the other graves, nor even an unmarked on. Being that she is the Mayor's daughter, it would be quite weird for the 'dead daughter' of the Mayor to not have her own gravestone. Not to mention that the Holiday family appears to be quite wealthy or of upper class, based on the fancy gates that Noelle is seen standing before in Chapter 1, so it wouldn't make sense they couldn't afford a gravestone should Dess be deceased. There's also the fact that, if you go down to those weird bunker doors south of the office (Post-Cyber World) in Chapter 2, you get a cutscene between Snowdrake and Monster Kid. They mention something along the lines of how Kris was spooked or frightened out of their minds and was seen fleeing away from the bunker, to which Snowdrake remarks about 'don't be a weenie like Kris'. There's also the fact that Noelle mentions how she, Kris, Asriel, and Dess all used to explore a lot together in their childhood in the forest by the church quite often. Adding what Noelle mentions how she got into scary movies and occult-like stuff (Catti at the diner mentions Noelle once asking her about spells/curses/etc) because of Dess, it's safe to assume that the group loved looking into mysteries and strange things around town as kids. Taking all these little details, what I like to believe is that Kris and Dess both went to the bunker by the forest to investigate, probably with Noelle accompanying them too. They probably found the doors open at that time, and Dess--being the oldest in their group--decides to go into the bunker first to ensure it was safe for the Kris/Noelle to go in with her. Without any warning, the doors slam shut behind Dess where she ends up disappearing to the Dark World. Kris and Noelle both panic, trying to get the door open, but to no avail. Eventually the two end up trying to report the incident to the Chief of Police, which is Asgore at the time. However, Asgore's search is futile as they are unable to find Dess or any traces of her ever leaving the town. The Mayor, furious and distraught over the loss of her daughter, ends up firing Asgore from his position, leaving Kris' family to struggle with bills (you find out that Kris' family is indebt from having a phone call with Toriel before you and Susie head to the library together). The finances puts a strain on Kris' family, and eventually the parents divorced. Noelle is traumatized from having to lose her sister in such a strange incident that she ends up distancing herself from Kris almost entirely, leaving Kris to rely heavily on Asriel for any sort of emotional support. So not only did Kris lose two of their childhood friends, but also felt responsible for divorce between their parents as well, which is probably their main motivation for ripping open a fountain in their own home at the end of Chapter 2 in the first place. Probably thinking that if they find Dess, everything could be fixed. I mean, they learned from Queen that any Lightner can rip open a fountain as long as they had the willpower and determination to.

Spamton second voice is just whats left of his sanity speaking. This is why it apologize when he tries to tell kris about the knight. It'd be strange if toby left no hint to show spamton caught a virus, and its the only one we got. Plus,there is no reason why Dess could speak trough Spamton. But I'm now almost convinced Dess is indeed the voice in the code.

After all, Spamton and his virus might as well be two different person sharing a body,not to mention virus!Spamton isn't coherent,pretending not to hear the voice but saying it was talking to kris anyway. And for the fact it correspond perfectly with the line in the code, well, it's not strange to imagine toby fox is just making a parallel ;i think this line was already present in Undertale when Flowey speak in echo flower as Toriel. And i personnaly find it a bit on-the-nose;what's even the point of making these lines secret? On the other hand,if we assume your theory is correct,then the facts i mentionned previously just do not fit at all. I mean,even if Spamton had no virus,it would still feel strange for Noelle to randomly speak trough him. I believe another piece of evidence for the "dess is missing theory" besides the calendar in Noelle's room is the wardrobe next to it. When examining it in a normal run through chapter 2, Susie will comment on how she has never seen Noelle wear anything like what is seen in the wardrobe. I think this supports the idea that Noelle is searching for her sister who went missing by looking up what she last saw her sister wearing before her disappearance. Maybe I'm just looking too much into it as well

I mean, that angel doll in the DadMs hospital room does say that it was made by the two girls in youth group. And youth group is for much older kids, or else it would be Sunday school. It’s likely they just let younger kids come, or the older kids just brought their younger siblings since Asriel and Kris made one in youth group too (but spent too much time on the wings). It’s possible Noelle mentions Dess like that due to having hope she’s okay and that she could come back, not wanting to be too sad or anything.

There's something i was thinking,if all the chapters gave you the choice to do a route similar to snowgrave route/weird route and if in each chapter,you manipulated one menber of your team,i think it would be an interesting idea for susie to be immune to the player's control,you see,in undertale and deltarune,there's characters i like to call "exceptions to the rule". Let's start with more generic examples,like: Sans:well,sans doesn't remember previous timelines like many believe,if so, he would remember flowey's previous geno routes,when he clearly don't,considering that when we went to grillby's with sans in the pacifist route,and he mentioned a talking flower that gave advices to papyrus,he actually thought it was someone using a echo flower to prank his brother,but if he remembered flowey,he would have have eventually reached the conclusion it was flowey,and killed him when noone was seeing,but he knows a rather unusual amount of things about timelines and frisk powers,the only ones who would know more about it would be flowey/asriel and (probably) chara. Now let's talk about a deltarune character,when it comes to "exceptions to the rule",many people would think about spamton and jevil,but I'm gonna give a different example: Ralsei:now,i know most people think he's just a sweet little goat boi,that has no friends and don't know how to socialize (wich i highly doubt tbh)but he said he once had subjects and if that is true,he NEEDED to know how to do that,besides he has a high amount of knowledge for someone sweet and innocent,like,in chapter 2,how did he know where we would have to go to bring the darkners back to the dark world,after all he never left the town before,right?how did he know kris and susie before they even got to the dark world anyway?before someone says that's because he's the prince,(wich i don't believe either)that simply doesn't make sense. Now let's talk about why susie would fit in that group,while it may sound like pure speculation,it really marked me the way she said: "your choices don't matter".while she changed her ways throughout the game,she's still the same person,we can see that when we are about to enter the other dark world,they give us the option to say we want to enter the dark world,or to say that we can study at home,but it wouldn't matter because we went there anyway,i don't think that's just pure plot. While the others may easily be manipulated because Ralsei thinks we are the hero of the prophecy and noelle thinks it's all just a dream.susie wouldn't be manipulated because she's still independent and doesn't need us to make choices for her,besides i don't think susie gives a damn about the prophecy and being hero,i think she just wants to hang out with ralsei,kris and lancer,after all she never had a friend before.when something's wrong with kris, she seems to notice it quickly, like after the fight against spamton neo,when kris says he's fine she knew he was lying. I have a theory: So basicly. I think. What happened with the bunker and kris was that asriel kris dess and noelle was hanging out by it. Until dess was dared to go in during a truth or dare game. Asriel decided to play a sick prank due to most likely being a young teen at the time. Asriel pushed dess in and closed the doors. Noelle was waiting for them back at the spot where they were playing along with kris waiting too. And the door was locked. So asriel had no choice other then to lie that dess had to go home or wanted to go home for some reason or another. This explains why ralsei acts odd during the 2nd chapter where noelle is included and this seems to be why noelle has no answer to why dess never came home. But this is just my theory.

We know that Kris is probably not the Knight, and looking at the EGG secret, most possibly the Knight is Gaster. So he needs a knife and DT to open the fountains. But where G can get DT from? What if there is a DT Extractor in the bunker? Then Dess could have lost DT and got in the void with Gaster. So both of them are actually at the same place and that explains why Dess can hear scratching and where did Gaster get DT from to open fountains. Further more void would explain why there is a secret Dess message in Undertale, because she doesn't exist. She is everywhere in time and space. More than that: considering the deltarune timeline being the AT where Chara loaded with our soul and killed humanity, freeing the monsterkind, we can actually say that DT extractor is the same one from UT. Because IT IS Undertale. The last one thing to mention is Gaster cannot do things completely by himself, because he is mainly still in the void, but heck if Sans is not here. Sans just got in the town as well as in Undertale. But he is the only one connected to G and the only one who has the possibility to contant with Gaster himself. That's how Sans becomes the connector between Gaster in void and Gaster the knight. And what does he use to bring back Gaster? Broken machine. I think Rudy holiday will play a big part in the future chapters as he has his own unique voice sound effect and laugh. No other characters in the light world, apart from Noelle, Berdly and the undertale characters have their own unique voice. Also, the knight has followed a straight path so far from the school to the library, next would be the hospital.

This is sort of an old video, but I would like to point out the following. Dess Holiday seems to realize that her struggles towards freedom are futile. Now we must inspect this word right here, this "freedom." It is a recurring theme in Deltarune; Jevil is convinced that he is the only free one, when he is actually a prisoner, Spamton is aware of his lack of freedom and actively works against it through attempting to take Kris' SOUL and become "free", and Kris is also aware of their own lack of freedom and they on multiple occasions attempt to free themselves, even if only temporarily, by tearing out their SOUL (to which we, the players, are bound to and forced to control, therefore controlling Kris). My theory is that Dess will be the last or second-to-last secret boss. As the chapters go on, further dialogue will appear in the code, showing her slowly cracking as she realizes she is truly trapped forever. The Bunker is surely plot-important, and is likely to contain a Dark World, so it is possible that this will be the Chapter 6/Chapter 7 Dark World in which we will finally find Dess again and we will have to convince her that there is a way out (sealing the Fountain with Kris' SOUL) in order to rescue her from her imprisonment, much like we (somewhat) rescued the previous secret bosses.

Oh shit, this theory is... very plausible actually. The part where Dess is stuck in the dark world and kris escaped... and maybe that's when the heart shaped object took over Kris life. Kris was already in the dark world after all, as it's clear by the save file with their name at the beginning of the game, and you can save only in the dark world... And that's clearly an explicit choice by Toby, since he is a good designer and some moments in the real world actually need a save point to break up the pacing, but he avoided putting them in anyway...

He got fired from his position at the police station due to the accident, Toriel never forgave him the same way she never tried to in Undertale, being a good friend of Rudolph, who forgave him, Asgore tries his hardest to be by his side, the Mayor/Dess and Noelle's mother is clearly being very cold toward Asgore and it seems like Noelle is oblivious to what happened. Maybe Kris didn't know either. This would be the reason Asgore lives in misery in Deltarune, crushed by the same guilt he felt in Undertale... Welp, that's my new headcanon now.

I think Asgore is definitely involved, but I don't think Dess is dead, since there's the, "You're lucky Dess isn't here" line that would make her being dead a lot more... awkward, to say the least.

Ok, I have a clip from deltarune during the snowgrave route, when Kris and noelle are walking down the weird spell and speak path, she reverts to a small child-like character. Idk if it's a bug or not, but I thought I would point it out.

If it IS Dess... well, that answers one question but there are a lot of others. Where exactly is she? More hidden text in chapter 2 mentions that the speaker hears scratching noises... what the heck are those? How is she able to communicate through Spamton? Why is Spamton so quick to deny that there even was a voice? And why does Spamton think she was talking to you? And will I ever stop asking unanswerable questions? It's certainly possible, but with the way she's talked about, I feel like there's probably a darker turn to it. The way Dess kept searching her name, the way Rudy says that if he dies, it's just Noelle and her mom. Time will tell, tho.
