Damn the 1100 sounds better to me. Not what I was hoping for.

550 seems a little more natural and clear than 1100

I just bought the memory man deluxe on the right and I love it. I also own the memory man hazzaria

550 sounds essentially like a big case DMM

repeats of the 550 are less dark and more natural than 1100. However both are great delays

The treble on 550 has a weird artificial buzz in the delay. That the 1100 doesn't have. God am I the only one that hears that? It's plain as day to my ears. Thanks for the video. Now I know 1100 is superior. Yes 550 sounds bright but has the buzz which drives me up the wall

Yup, that’s clock noise. I always notice it and I can’t get past it if an analog delay has it. My big box DMMs had none…shouldn’t have sold them haha. The 1100 seems to be great though. 👌

I’ve had both. They are both great but solid the 1100 not cuz it was inferior but the 550 does everything I want and more at a smaller price tag. The 550 I have is dead quiet until long delay settings. 3 things to remember when deciding which one to buy: 1. Of course the difference in price. 2. Each unit of the exact same make of both pedals can sound a little different. Especially when it comes to noise and artifacts in the repeats. I highly recommend you play the exact unit you’re buying before purchase. Actually I recommend this on all vintage type pedals but especially on ones with vintage chips that need to be calibrated. You can mail them off to guys like Analog man and Howard Davis (I think he still does it) to calibrate a shitty sounding unit for a price. 3. Because the 1100 can do twice as long of delays it will sound much clearer at longer delay settings. But some people actually love those lo fi repeats and the 550 gives it to you much quicker if that’s your thing. As for me, the 550 is perfect for what I use it for. I have other digital delays to cover the long crisp clear stuff. They could put a filter in it to kill the noise but it’s a compromise cuz it’ll take away the sound that’s made the DMM such a legendary pedal

The 550TT sounds better to me.

+Forever_27 Listen to the longer delay settings on the 550 - more frequency distortion or clock noise compared to the 1100. They are both good though.

Memory Boy will do the job as well..

Agreed! And if it's too dark - EQ in the loop!

No clock noise, it's aliasing.

mmm, I hear that 1100 loses some frequencies, more bucket stage ...
@javiceres7 жыл бұрын
More bucket stages equals wider bandwith response AKA "more frequencies" are preserved

on those pedals, can you control the tone of the delay?
@mr_pint78165 жыл бұрын
Yes, but you will need additional pedals jacked into the effects loop.

@jcbigcat. Yes they do. This is the older 1100 with the old chips. The 550 still comes with the old chips till this day

I've owned both and the 1100 is better. Something magic about that pedal.
