I've been taking home fish that I've caught around Sydney Harbour for over 30 years and I'm still alive. Maybe 40 years ago yes I would agree with you but since commercial fishing has been banned etc the water in Sydney Harbour is cleaner than it ever. Anything caught on the east side of the bridge shouldn't be eaten but anything caught on the west side is safe provided you don't eat too much. One serving per month is quite safe. While it's great to hear you're enjoying the beauty of fishing down at Sydney Harbour, I just want to jump in with some information from the NSW government website: They would say the opposite, that fish on the east side are safe to eat in moderation whereas west side catches should be released back. www.dpi.nsw.gov.au/fishing/recreational/fishing-skills/fishing-in-sydney-harbour
