Jimmy James is my all-time favorite guitarist. His feel is just amazing - those bends, the vibrato…the soul he puts into his playing it's just next level. I wish I could play like him. If he was alive in the 60's he would be a household name. DLOT, you guys are so tight! Those grooves, the swing...it's just awesome.

@@delvon Dude, you literally got my eyes watering. Ima be front and center for that show, rain or shine, bouncing for joy. I love your beautiful music so much. You seem to be a conduit for channeling your positive energy into that organ. So often musicians seem too staunchly focused to make things perfect- but it’s never going to be perfect. You are clearly having a blast when you play- I hope you’ve seen some old Wes Montgomery footage because when he played he beamed that same sense of fun and happiness into his music- and had a big smile on his face. Ray Charles and Bobby McFerrin and Joe Dart (Vulfpeck’s bassist) come to mind as well with that positive vibe. Is that the trick? We should all smile when we play? Maceo Parker shows are some of my best life experiences and he clearly is having fun - but it’s hard to smile when blowing on your alto. Hunter Berry is another musician who comes to mind - he just beams when he plays and loves what he’s doing- he’s a bluegrass fiddler and his stuff on Rhonda Vincent and the Rage Ragin’ live DVD displays what I’m getting at. Fun fact, a study looked at old yearbook photos and the folks who had real smiles in their photos tended to live longer. Poor Wes probably smoked cigarettes explaining his early demise. I hope you don’t smoke cigarettes, Delvon!) Keep smiling for your longevity and wellness and I’ll see you ... Waaaay down upon the Swanee River, far far away, that’s where my heart is yearning ever, home where the old folks stay! This Suwannee festival is on that river from the old song I just quoted. I bet there’s never been a Hammond jam version of that song before!
