Ah I see, He autocanceled W (gives back 6%~ mana) with his R animation. You can see the damage numbers appear but the animation got cutoff. Silly me :P

i think it's the kassadin w

he had 89 mana. When kassadin uses ult it increases the mana twice its like 50 100 200 400 800 etc. for 8 seconds also increased the dmg. At that clip kassadin ran for 8-10s so the duration for increased mana and damage resetted thus ulting for only 50 mana after that he hit jax with w which gives him mana depending on his missing mana.
