I played Garen a lot on top, but he is kind of a joke of a champion, there is a lot of champions that can just beat garen in dmg trades and even kill him, It is stupid to know that most ADC champions can stomp you on top, yes u might reach them with ghost and flash, but they also going to use ghost and flash, playing as Garen it forces you to play defensive or passive against most champions, and just try ur best to farm until ur jungle decide to gank your lane, or if u lucky they get few good tower shots, and Garen is not a good set up lane for jungle ganks, he doesn't have a good CC, anyone with good ping and good reaction can flash away before your Q hits them, so ur flash+Q+E tactic to secure a kill, can be predicted and they can escape it if they are good enough, the bright side is sometimes they flash upon seeing u charge ur Q as they expect a flash,

Garen actually looses against Panthion, most of trade dmg against him will be a lose, but the bright side, is he lose mana, and you don't, There is a way to have a decent trade with him but you have to pick what to waste on his shield, ur Q or ur E, once he uses his shield, u can use the other skill, and usually he stuns at the end of the fight to secure you as a kill or to escape, The problem is the river has fruits that Panthion can use, so u have to ruin the fruit before trading with him, or watch out for it, there also another bright side, if you get an big advantage in gold, then Panthion becomes very easier to kill in a 1 v 1 scenario,
