I’ve had mine in smooth leather for a couple years and it has worn very well. Nothing like the photos you showed! I don’t think you’d see that kind of wear unless they were thrown around, but that would ruin any bag regardless of quality. I’m careful with my bags but don’t particularly “baby” them. It’s a beautiful, versatile, and functional bag. Hope this helps!

Im very careful with my bags as well, but I had black and after a year it looked sooooo bad, and after 1,5 years the lock broke completely:((((

Finally someone talking about it! I had Vancouver for a year, the hardware got covered in stains and scratches with very little use just in a month. I eventually got it replaced for free by DeMellier, but the replaced one started to look worse again very fast, and I do use bags carefully, never had an issue with any before. The leather also was getting scratched quite easily, and the structure felt flimsier with time (I can totally see how the bag can start looking like the ones in the video with a little more use). As beautiful as the bag is, the quality is just no there. I loved the design so much, but just could not walk around with the bag that begins to look so horrible and had to sell it.

I think these just look like really loved bags. The average person does not have several handbags to rotate through and so they wear the same bag all the time and the wear shows sooner. Also, I think it’s just something you have to expect with a boxy smooth leather bag. If you research the wear on Celine classic bags, they also look like crap on the resale market. I could never buy this style of bag for that reason. The scratches would drive me nuts!

Hi ! I have the Vancouver Demellier in light tan since July 2023 smooth leather and it still looks great doesn't have any issues (scratches, dents, discoloration, stains) and I don't baby the bag. I used it countless times and once it even rained and I didn't get water stains on it. The bag you showed looks very used though. I purchased from Demellier website the bag came in perfect condition wrapped and well packaged with protectives

I’ve had the smooth leather vancouver bag for a year now and even brought it with me to travel several times. It still looks great and I’m happy wearing it every time I go out. I haven’t had any issues like the ones seen on the photos you shared. And no, I don’t baby my bag. Hope this helps.

I ordered one in the smooth leather. The pebbled leather will probably wear better. My smooth leather is beautiful but I’ve not had time to speak on wear and tear. When I ordered directly from them here in the USA they paid for my duty fees. It came beautifully packaged and the dust bag is also of good quality.

Tanner Leatherstein has also given DeMellier London a lower quality review, he said the inner support structures weren’t as good as that of Strathberry or Polène.

I owned 4 Demillier bags. To be honest, I bought them because of the designs, not quality. I like the simplicity of Demillier bags. Tory Burch bags have similar price tags but better quality. Would I buy more Demillier bags? Probably no.

Some people look after their things, some people not. Fact. The percentage of people having problems with this bag is minimal and probably a bit rough with bags, I can assure you, you will have the same problem with ANY other bag.

I think it is a matter of how you take care of your bag… any price of the bag will not guarantee you from tear and wear. I hear DeMellier have life time warranty for their bags. I don’t know what it means and what it includes. I just bought a Vancouver bag and plan to treat it with care. I love it so far but will see how it lasts. I also ordered hardware protectors for it. I am also based in Finland and all customs were taken care by demellier, so it was not a problem to order direct.

It was a great idea to look at preloved bags to get an idea of how they wear. I saw a different style by same brand in my local preloved store at a super price and I left it. That should tell you something. I was not impressed either.

I used the small Vancouver once and it is scratched on the gold hardware. I have various Gucci, Coach and YSL, they have never scratched. The metalwork is too shiny so shows every little scratch.

Two reasons why people have very worn out bags. Either they intentionally make it look like that, or they wear it everyday. Even under the rain. the black one looks like it was soaked in water

I just purchased the grain leather version and I am not impressed. I think other brand at this price range such Tory Burch’s has better quality leather. The bag does not feel luxurious at all. Maybe the smooth leather version is different.

When I saw the bags in store, I noticed the tarnishing on the hardware. The store models looked bad, and they're not even really worn - just tried on. So that's a yellow flag for sure.
