Maybe also the Dancing with the Devil Bb5 (if she performs that song this year... since she's gone full rock, I doubt she's going to perform more than a few songs from DWTDTAOSO). Either way, both her mid-belts and upper belts have only been improving since the Confident era. Honestly, with all the other high notes she was hitting in the performance, I'm surprised she dodged the G5s in Substance considering its one of her easier songs to sing.

I applaud Demi for pushing the limits of her mix. We’re seeing she’s singing the highest she ever has, which I think has been enabled by her rock sound. I worry, though, about how she is overdoing the end of her range. She has an amazing base, and those G# - B5 are just embellishments that I think could be added less so she focuses more on pitch, vibrato, tone, etc. Nevertheless, I think she’s going to develop that part of her voice throughout her 30s and it’ll sound less experimental.

I agree! She perfected her high notes... I think she focused a lot on those and didn't work the rest of her range that much (maybe the lower part a bit) Anyway now she can focus on tone, vibrato, runs, stability etc... ☺️

Honestly, Her vibrato actually sounds quite a bit better than it used to recently as well. Usually, her vibrato sounds very forced, but recently it's sounded a lot more free, including in this video.

Agree! But if there's something we've learned from Demi over the years is that they'll never stop learning and trying to perfect their voice! I bet in 2024 they'll tackle those little flaws. Some of them are just learning new techniques to deal with the aftereffects of their overdose. Demi's mentioned in some 2023 interviews that the hearing loss caused by the overdose has affected their pitch and that they'll just have to learn how to cope.

i saw a vocal coach saying demi had pitch problems and was out of tune for most of the show. i did feel some weird notes here and there, but he said it in a way that was worrisome, like demi was forcing her voice and could lose it soon. what do you guys think?

I don’t think so. Learning how to mix is hard and it can get even more hard when you mix close to another register. So for Demi the A-C6 would be hard since her voice naturally wants to go into head voice and balancing is hard. That’s why the first Bb5 sounds heady and the B5 sounds more balanced. So they’ll get used to it. And they don’t perform that much, like once a Motheo it’s okay.

I just think she's getting used to actually mixing instead of pulling chest. You can clearly hear there's more resonance, and that her voice is hitting those notes way easier, even her vibrato is way more natural than it used to be, so I definitely don't think she's forcing it, I just think she's still adapting to taking a lighter approach to her singing.

I know this is a channel that supports Demi and I think she's a great vocalist but she just does not sound good past G5 I know she's hitting Bb5 it sounds mixed and not strong. If she would stop putting notes in her songs that are a bit too high for her she'd be a lot more successful as a vocalist. Those E5 in the 29 song are lovely. G#-Bb5 objectively sounds like a mess to me , I'm sorry .

I think the G#5s sound OK...the bb5s are a different story ...but they were never an easy note for demi, but these are better than previous attempts . This is also their 1st B5 ever so that's also impressive

I think 4:36 was pretty good. Once she was actually on the ground, I think hitting that extra G# actually set her up to have a proper good G afterwards. I just kinda wish she stayed open on the 3 Gs afterwards, because she gets a bit splatty after "be".

@@JordonLee2003 yeah maybe in small ways I do just think this is maybe an example of having the range but not the control over the range. The lack of vibrato on all the high notes, the pitchiness, the tonelessness on the high notes.

@@relyk9157t definitely has, literally those last few notes in the skyscraper should’ve been easy for her to nail without sounding so wobbly. I swear last year she sounded so good, literally saw her on her second night of the Holy FVCK tour in Des Moines and she sounded so on pitch and hit the notes so flawlessly and sounded less strained then this year. I’m sad that it’s probably due to Demi’s voice not being able to keep up in her now “rock style” same happened to Miley during 2021-2022 when all she sang was her Rock style, it limited her voice overtime and after a year break her voice sounded healthy again. I hope Demi truly takes care of herself she really is so talented.

@@noahkeolanui4478 She’s really been pushing her voice to the limits adding more and even higher high notes (and in back to back songs) I have no doubt she’s still capable of being one of the best voices today, but you’re right she needs to let herself breathe before she does permanent damage
