The way Demi says "I was attracted to HIM..." it's obvious they knew it was inappropriate. In Wilmer's interview he blamed it on Demi too. But again, Demi was a child. Any time the press asked them anything about their relationship they both would blame Demi without even being prompted. I just don't get why the media didn't call it out ever.

I feel like Ryan saw the signs during the interview, when he said “Well you ARE too young” he means it, and it hurts to hear her respond with “Not anymore” and “I’m basically 30”. She was 22, she wasn’t close to being 30, even less 35, I’m 25 and I don’t feel anywhere close to 30. The grooming she went through shows so much here, the old “you’re too mature for your age” speech. I’m glad she realizes how damaging he was to her and that she is speaking up about it. In the end, once you hit the age they were when they met you, that’s when you realize how sick they are. Once again, I’m 25 and I wouldn’t dream of going out with a 20 year old, Wilmer disgusts me.

I think that the person who wrote this comment was wrong to think Ryan was opposed to their relationship because of the age difference. Maybe Ryan has the limit of not 17 but he definitely doesn't see the harm in big age gap.

So I dont think it provides anything more than a rough guidance on what age a person is able to fully give consent. Of course, legally it makes all the difference
