The CasioTone 101 (CT-101) is a VERY basic analog synth from Casio circa 1981. The keyboard has 49 full-size keys and is finished in satin black painted metal, has wooden end-cheeks and a wood grain finish underneath the front of the keys. It gives your studio a good analog/vintage feel. Most sounds are very basic and fairly unusable. However, its organ tones are pretty good as well as its 'Cosmic Tone' patch, which uses two oscillators tuned an octave apart, and as the keys are held down, the sound drops an octave as oscillator 1 fades up, and oscillator 2 fades down. The CT-101 has been used by The Human League, Blondie, Vince Clark, Severed Heads, Goldie, and Moby.
O CasioTone 101 (CT-101) é um sintetizador analógico muito básico da Casio por volta de 1981. O teclado tem 49 teclas em tamanho real e acabamento em metal pintado de cetim preto, bochechas de madeira e um acabamento de grão de madeira embaixo da frente as chaves. Dá ao seu estúdio uma boa sensação analógica / vintage. A maioria dos sons é muito básica e inutilizável. No entanto, seus tons de órgão são muito bons, assim como seu patch "Cosmic Tone", que usa dois osciladores afinados em uma oitava, e enquanto as teclas são pressionadas, o som cai uma oitava enquanto o oscilador 1 desvanece e o oscilador 2 desaparece baixa. I had the CT 202, the big brother of the 101, but later sombody brought his 101 and I played with 2 keyboards. It was in the early 80 and we were a sansation.

Back when even the cheapest beginner keyboards were solidly made of wood and metal and had four or five octave, full size keyboards, and connectivity for line out, sustain, volume pedal, and more. Now you can spend $800 on a fully featured synth with near infinite sounds, but it will have 2 or maybe 3 octaves of small keys and feel like it’s plastic chassis will shatter if you sneeze near it.

Gostava bastante de poder ter estes sons via MIDI, para poder programar músicas com eles. Infelizmente no tempo do CT-101 ainda não havia MIDI, e poucos anos depois quando passou a haver sintetizadores com MIDI os sons deles já eram mais 'sofisticados'. Será que não há nenhum sintetizador que tenha este carácter de '8 bits' e seja controlável?

Desses casios mais simples o primeiro que vi com MIDI foi o MT 540 e os outros “tone bank” como o ct 670 mas já é outro timbragem
