Bought one and it's best value guitar I've ever seen or owned!!
@Grvthang3 жыл бұрын
Great review, thanks! I bought one about a month ago. I couldn't believe the fit and finish, right out of the box. I actually played a 3 hour gig the night after I bought it without having to adjust the action or intonation - unheard of! I also switched out the tuners to Wilkinson locking tuners. And I changed the bridge for rollers. What a great axe for $450!

Musicians friend is selling these for $450 on sale right now, black triple gold pickups as well.... So so so tempting

@Johnathan Mitchell sorry, just seeing your post now. I used a Wilkinson roller bridge. It dropped right in. Between the locking tuners and the roller bridge, it stays in tune remarkably now. I also went out and changed the pickups for TV Jones Classics. It’s a monster now!

Those guitars are advertised as coming with locking tuners, but that's wrong. They are nice guitars, and I bought a black one with gold hardware. I'm happy with it. The necks on the G2627 are slim, unlike all other Streamliner models, which have pretty thick necks. The 2627 is a Limited Edition Exclusive, which is why there is no serial number on the back of the headstock. There is a serial number on a label inside the guitar. Initially, they were only sold exclusively through Guitar Center and Musician's Friend which are both owned by the same company. It's one of the nicest playing and sounding Gretsches I have ever owned, with seven different settings/tones possible with the three Broadtron pickups. A simply amazing guitar at such a reasonable price!

Thanks for the review. I made an offer on this same guitar on CL today and the dude accepted. So I'm scrambling to make sure I got a good deal. From your demo and everything I've seen so far, I got a killer deal.

Just got mine yesterday in the seashore gold. I've never bought a guitar that played so well, at a price that my pay scale could afford. I don't know what it is like to play a $15000 guitar, but this one is by far the smoothest and most beautiful horn I've ever owned. Thank you for showing me what I one day may be able to wring out of it. Love the videp!

I played a $180,000 genuine 1959 Gibson Les Paul once at Gruhn Guitars in Nashville, and it didn't play any different than an inexpensive Epiphone Les Paul. Sure it had a cool vibe, but holding $180,000 piece of wood in my hands made me realize that price tags are just hype. If you had a $15,000 custom guitar made specifically for you by a skilled luthier with select premium grade wood and materials, it would be slightly better, but why would you want to ever spend that much money when this sub-$500 guitar will rock and roll all night long, and you won't have to cry as much if something happens to it? I stopped buying expensive guitars after my first Gibson Les Paul neck break, and I never looked back. Expensive guitars are kind of like those expensive designer purses women buy, the majority of the price is the just name on the label.

Just purchased this exact model yesterday. Had no intention of buying another guitar but could not resist that $450 price tag. Some of my favorite musicians have made some great music on Gretsch guitars (Neil Young, Chris Cornell and obviously the Beatles) and I always wanted one but really own too many guitars already. Great advice on the locking tuners. I'll have to go that route when it's in hand. I might replace the knobs as well. I just can't get over how nice it looks and that it's got three pickups and a thinner neck. This thing's a winner all around. What an unexpected find! Great video and great advice.

Just for clarity: (1) the upper switch closest to the nut is for (a) (up toward face) is the neck pickup alone, (b) down (away from players face) is bridge pickup only, and (c) middle position is for both neck and bridge pickups. Switch #2 only affects the middle pickup. Switch #2 in UP (toward players face) is for the middle pickup ONLY - the neck and bridge are dead. Switch #2 in Down Position (away from player) deadens the middle pickup. Switch #2 in middle position turns the middle pickup ON in addition to whatever is selected on Switch #1. That is the way the two pickup selector switches work. Hope this helps clarify the Gretsch Switches on the G2627T.

I have this same guitar, only mine is black with gold metals which is a positively beautiful effect. I absolutely love the rich tones and resonates that it creates. FYI Gretsch makes a a card that supposedly ships with the guitar showing the various settings for the pickup selectors however mine did not come with one, so I've reached out to Gresch directly requesting one.

I have been eye'n this guitar for a few years at the local shop, and noticed the price dropped to $400+ on the upper 3 tier of the new guitar wall. Thought maybe it was a scratch/dent sale. Will check it out now. Thank you for your demo & review and jamming! Thank you.

Great demo! Your tone and style is awesome! I could listen to you play all day. Subscribed, liked, and shared! This is the first time I've heard the Bigsby arm called a wiggle stick. I guess that explains where the Reverend Horton Heat may have gotten the idea for his song, Wiggle Stick. I just ordered one of these in the shoreline gold color today, and I ordered some locking tuners too. Musician's Friend has them on sale right now for $449, and the locking tuners were on sale too. I can't wait to get it. I've owned a few Gretsch guitars over the past 30 years, and I always seem to sell them and regret it later. Maybe I'll hand on to this one for awhile. Lol!

@David Wang Wow! That’s awesome! The only comparison I’ve seen like that was an old Harley rider I knew. He never sold a bike he collected starting back in the 1950s. He had Harleys from the early 1900’s all the way up to the 2000s. His shop was like a museum. He kept them all in pristine condition. When he couldn’t ride anymore, he sold all of them, and never had to work again.

That was a steal! I'm looking for a relatively inexpensive guitar to take to open mic that I don't have to worry about getting scratched, dinged, dented or stolen. If I'm not mistaken, that doesn't come with a soft case or anything. But at $450 that was a steal.

Would you consider this guitar for just a rhythm or strummer player?
@guitarman48993 жыл бұрын
Great review! Does it have an "out of phase" sound with the middle and bridge pickup on, like the strat?
@Mike286252 жыл бұрын
It can, in "all on" mode depending on how you set the volume of the middle pickup. Like, if the bridge and neck are balanced, bringing in the middle, i hear a dramatic phaze as it meets the other two in volume. It'll clean up again as the middle takes over if there's room left on the dial. Lower middle for clean, higher middle for quack/fuzz. A real shoe-gazers dream. I've literally spent hours on end just fiddling knobs and strumming chords with this guitar.

I love this guitar, but I'm not happy that I bought it for like $600 then not even a month later the price plummeted... I couldn't trade it in if I wanted to. It doesn't like staying in tune at all, but I'm gonna replace the Bigsby, tuners and bridge and it should be fine. Sound great, though.

I think I paid like 375 new for mine from MF 3 years ago. It sounds killer overdriven and is highly underrated. my only complaint is the switch gear is very scratchy and sloppy. Switch craft can fix that though.
