The new barn is working out well. The yard sure will look different with the old barns gone. 800’ drilled well and only 2 gals/min..whoa!! Sure glad they hit water at 600’. 25 gals/min flow should be plenty. Great vid. Take care & stay safe. Cheers

That is one deep well but if you get lots of water it will be worth it! BTW wells that deep up here (Ontario) are virtually unheard of. Our well is about 12 feet and easily puts out more than our family needs...probably running out the casing even this time of year.
@timothymartin28813 жыл бұрын
The farm my dad grew up on is only 5 minutes from you and they’ve drilled numerous wells over the years just to get enough supply for their dairy, now my dad moved 20 minutes north of you and he drilled a 150 ft deep well and easily got 50 gallons per minute. I find it interesting how different it is in such a short distance.

Another informative and educational video Eric. My favorite part of construction is the destruction involved, and that was a lot of destruction. Most of us forget what it's like when you have find your own water source. Great well for you guys.

Congrats on the new well! It's hard for folks in the city, that get city water, to fully appreciate how important something like that is... And at 25 gpm? That's amazing. Like you said, that kind of flow is a big game changer for an operation like what you guys have going there. Side note: when you put "Demo" in the title... I'm so used to people having equipment demos on their channels that I thought that's what you were talking about until I saw you guys demolishing the rest of the old barn. I had a good laugh at myself. 😂

When my parents put in a new well sharks teeth from thousands of years ago came up. They live about 60 miles inland from the beach but thousands of years ago the beach was all the way to the center of our state about 135 miles. So digging a well can find some pretty cool stuff. Thanks for the video.

I was thinking will you have to build a pump house with heat so the well/pump doesn't freeze up in the winter? I was going to suggest a pressurized storage tank in the barn to help with the winter, but then you will have to heat the storage tank which would be expensive too. I enjoyed the video and it is awesome to see how much progress has happened over the last year. Be Safe and God Bless!

Eric you've never been all over the place. Just a typical day on a dairy farm. I lived on a Farm-Ranch operation, until I moved into town to a boarding house for high school, and then onto trade school. My dad always told me when we had a lot of things to do. "Do not let it overwhelm you . Do the most importantly project first, unless something comes up that needs your immediate attention"! .!.

Your well power needs might be met by solar application because if you have set a meter for power you pay monthly charge plus water usage?
@johnkruton97083 жыл бұрын
Monthly power only applies to the electricity used to pump the water. Water usage is just that. Free. The costs to drill, land taxes, new well house, lines etc. Amortized over years as capital improvements.

At 600ft, that is 1386 psi of head pressure. Even factoring in the hole being full of water, that will still require quite a pump to lift water that far. Hope it works out for you.
