These are really cool we use them for a student project. Watchout for the powersupply because they work on 6-24V so they are not directly suitable for microcontrollers. You may need to use transistors to drive its rgb color and divide its output voltage if you want to read the output.

- Is this not possible in the 3V range (for 3mm thick Acrylic)? - Does the LED have to always be on? I need to conserve power. My IoT device can currently function for a year as long as it only cycles every half hour. Having an always on LED would defeat the purpose. I need to LED as a feedback mechanism to acknowledge that the button has been pressed. - Can the button differentiate a 3 sec touch from a 1 sec touch?

RS is a nasty company that does not fullfill customers orders. I have been in limbo for several weeks. They neither deliver the parts (that were supposedly in stock), nor do they refund the money. Customer service is non-existent. No one answers!!
