Thank you @MooncakeEnglish. I have been teaching ESL for 12 years and to this day, I STILL get nervous about demo lessons! Sometimes it's "What material is appropriate for this level/age group?", while other times it's finding a fun and memorable game/activity to do. However, I'm beginning to venture into demo classes for adults, so it's more challenging finding age appropriate activities that aren't just "head shoulders knees and toes". It would be awesome if you could do a video for activities geared towards adult ESL students.

I laughed a lot at the beginning of the video, you described me today after the HR called me for the interview, Iam so confused as the vocabularies are new for me and the Demo will be for adults, " to be noted English is not my native language". How ever I hope I will practice until tomorrow (the demo) and to have the chance to tell you what I did :), wish me luck !

I have watched certain videos on your KZbin channel @Mooncake English. I have noticed that you are explaining things in a nice way but sometimes we need things to fix them with the help of some practical. Your lectures are good but please try to help teachers by demonstrating in a classroom. For instance, you are talking about a demo class then do a demo rather than explaining the teaching steps for a demo. Hope it will help your audiences to improve. I will also be looking forward for such awesome stuff on your KZbin channel.
@MooncakeEnglish3 жыл бұрын
Hi thanks for watching and for the feedback! I have had a few requests to see classes on the channel but unfortunately it becomes quite complicated. I would need permission from the school and every child's parents to do so legally. If I could do that, there are still issues with KZbin where content becomes restricted when kids are on camera. Both Mike's Home ESL and Muxi English have struggled with this. That said, they do still post their classes, so if you do need to see some live classes, do check out their channels they have some great ideas too! 😊

Hi Dian, thanks for watching and welcome to the Mooncake community! Sounds like it's been a little tough lately, I hope things pick up soon ❤️ Transitioning to online can be tricky if you're used to teaching in the classroom but I hope the channel can help inspire some new ideas. For camera shyness, try filming yourself in front of the camera and get used to the feeling and seeing yourself on film. It feels weird at first but you can just delete it all if you don't like what you filmed. This process helped me get used to being on camera. Wishing you all the best! 😊

Thanks a lot!It's very helpful!I have a question,for greeting part teacher should introduce herself first,and let kids repeating with instead of asking kids names directly.So teacher introduce herself later,then begin to ask kids names,right?
@MooncakeEnglish5 жыл бұрын
Hi Morgan, unless the students have a higher level of English, I actually don't recommend asking the students their names. It can take up a lot of time and it's very easy to lose students' attention because of how long it takes. If you can get students engaged with the lesson straight away you will make a faster connection and therefore give a better impression. Of course, if you ask a student to participate, you can ask their name, it's just not always the most productive way to start the lesson. I hope that helps!

@MooncakeEnglish5 жыл бұрын
Hi Doren, welcome to the Mooncake community! A skype demo class is very similar but a lot harder because you don't have the kids to prompt you. I think the interviewer will just want to see how you structure your class and the kind of games and activities you plan. Don't be afraid to explain the class and why you planned it that way so that they know your thought process.And don't forget to be energetic and friendly 😁 I actually have a video on how to ace a Skype interview, it's not demo class specific but it still might be helpful. kzbin.info/www/bejne/l5WngJKFpLZ9j9k I hope that all helps!

Hello mam. You are also good at acting... So mam on Monday I have a interview and same day have to give demo class, around 20 students in that class. So tell me some tips how to impress school Management and specially there parents...
@MooncakeEnglish4 жыл бұрын
Hi Karry, thanks so much for watching! A few tips to impress management... 1. Dress appropriately, first impressions really count 2. Come prepared, make sure you have a class planned and materials ready. If you would like to use some materials from the school, ask them in advance. 3. Even if if nervous, make a point to smile and say hello to everyone you meet. 4. Don't be afraid to ask questions A few tips for parents... 1. Dress appropriately, first impressions really count 2. Focus on the kids, many parents just want to see if their child enjoys your class. If you can connect with the kids, it is much easier to connect with the parents. 2. Smile and don't be afraid to introduce yourself, even if parents don't speak English. Best of luck with the interview, let me know how it goes!
