It does not have DX7 sounds. The PSR has 4 operator FM engine, instead of 6 operators in the DX7. Its more comparable with the DX9.

Sure. Has DX sounds. Better? Lol. Cool board, regardless.

Digital, but one knob per function like my still existing ps-6100. Back then I played at so many family events and dance parties and earned good money for a teenager. People were excited about the big sound this science fiction design keyboard produced when connected to my 12/2 speakers. Unbelievable from today‘s perspective.😂 When you take it apart you will find circuit boards which look shocking old-fashioned. Greetings from Germany🇩🇪🤝

If I have to escape from this planet and go to another, then choose to keep just one keyboard from all I have, well this one will go with me!

Haha... that's quite an honour you bestow upon it but true enough, being built into it's own case makes it ideal for new world travels!

And not only because of its special case, this thing represent for me a true love, from the first time I got my hands on it in the far 1987! I like sampled and near perfect sounds from the latest synths, but FM is something to die for!

Oops. Spelling. Pedal would be correct lol. Geez, listening to this video in Sept. 2022, I have to say this keyboard sounds pretty cheesy cool.

Great demo. I love demos where the person plays the instrument instead of just talking about the bloody thing.

Agree. Unfortunately, back then I was unable to flip the video; it's a mirrored image you're seeing. I also regret selling it as it's a really cool board with a great cheesy sound. Classic!

Sorry, I no longer have access to this keyboard and therefore I'm unable to help you. I will say this, it is very old technology and somewhat limited in architecture. Any songs you may create on it would be quite simplistic.

Hey can you tell me how I can play this keyboard with a standard piano sound? The extra functions it has are really unnecessary for my level though the settings have been fixed in a way I can't seem to undo. Thanks for any tips.

+Shaifa Farooqui . Hey, my friend, I do not have this keyboard in front of me to check and off the top of my head I cannot remember what buttons you need to activate. What I would suggest is you try turning off all the accompaniment buttons including any split buttons then try turning on only the voice button. As well, there really is not a good piano sound built in as it came out long before electric keyboards were equipped with decent piano sounds. Good luck.

Thanks, I was finally able to figure it out! And yes, I agree that this keyboard does not have the best piano sound, though I'm just a beginner and for $50, I can't complain. Thanks again.
@555ontario
@555ontario 8 жыл бұрын
+Shaifa Farooqui $50? Good stuff... it's got built in speakers and I have known of people that actually seek out this keyboard. It has that DX7 sound (obviously from that time) and is built into it's own case and for $50 you can't go wrong.

Your not the first person to have made that comment, plenty of people said that way back in 2003. But people like this keyboard because of it's FM sounds and lofi drums, I never understood the arbitrary 21st century "norms" of why FM synthesis and lofi drums was only good in the 80s and early 90s but beyond that time it's somehow "too late" to play on either this or a Casiotone and expect people to like your music but I suppose there are always going to be a few people who cling on to their 2003 "norms", I would choose this over a Tyros or Genos any day of the week or better still a PSR-36.

I want one! The Wavestate, Karma and Vector are all cheesy too, but in different ways than this. After knob per function, and before knob per function again, and also before the monolithic slab era, there was briefly button per function, a period unique to arrangers during the brief moment when they were so very basic that it seemed like a good idea, at the time. Well, if it was a good idea in 1986 or whenever, then it's a good idea today!

It's not garbage, these retro arranger keyboards are so underrated I like seeing other people playing on keyboards like this because I know I'm never going to get a PSR-6300 although I do like it's lofi drums but I don't think I have any room for one of these plus I prefer the models that have "Digital synthesizer" like the PSS-470, PSS-570, PSS-680 and PSS-380. Without this keyboard we wouldn't have arrangers as we know them today like Tyros or Genos.
