College tuition? No, give them and their families CASH, and take the wealth from the corrupt cops families to the VICTIMS and their families.

Q1. Where are the authorities that assisted J.B. with such evil acts against humanity? Q2. Who / where are the people who really committed 🤔 these crimes?

Pigs be PIGS! Sad. Disgusting that those whom we rely on to protect and to serve, instead prefer to harm our brother's and sisters.

Unfortunately, true. When you put it all on the scale, he worked hard and did a lot of good... but he did so much harm that I can't be proud of him. I voted for him hoping that he would be a moral person and stand up for what's right. I was wrong for believing that he would.

Ok, this was wrong, wrong, wrong. So the answer is to make a few millionaires while thousands of others are having their water cut off? Now the city is out 5 million that could have done so much more to make the city a better place? No. That is not justice, that is blackmail. The torture was not right, but neither is money going to change that. I can see helping those people to get their records expunged and get back onto a good life track, but spending that much money to appease them just adds to the overall misery of that city. Sorry, that is how I feel. Until or unless someone can convince me that millions of dollars are going to make anything better. Just richer - at others expense.

mrfaithandphysics Just like the awards in all civil cases, the awards in this civil case are to teach the defendant not to commit a certain act or crime anymore. It isn't blackmail. Kind of incredible that someone has to explain that to you.

DM Steck I know you weren't talking to me, but, who's going to pay? And what are "they still doing"? And who's "they"?

chris manecke Extortion then. And is the defendant (the police and prosecutors) paying for this? No, it's their employer, the City. The defendants learn shit. So we take from a city already broken, and give money to the victims? Now we have just created more victims of the people who might have kept their water on, or gotten into a homeless shelter. But no, that money is gone now. They are not punishing the bad guys here, they are rewarding the victim and only creating more victims in the process. Sounds pretty stupid to me. Not that I don't think the person wronged needs to be put right, but throwing money at them is not the answer. (I know, it's the answer to everything and will make it all better. They take the money and shut up.)

mrfaithandphysics 19 people get to split 5.5 million dollars and an apology from Rom Emanual. Yet NONE of the criminals go to jail. Give me a fucking break. The public servant assholes who TORTURED these 19 individuals (over the course of decades) walked scot-free and all you can do is whine about 5.5 million dollars.
