@@MachiavellianStrategistOh, be careful what you ask for, I'll overwhelm your guide 🙂 If you go Front Populaire as you did, Spanish volunteers are quite important. On the focus side, I'd go full Encourage the immigration before all the army debuffs, that's because it's critical for your war. I like to guarantee Poland so I start late August 1939, but refuse all invitations to faction. You can still create your own if you wish, Sweden sometimes joins. As for army branch, recently I enjoy the Motorized branch instead of the Air branches: too many air accidents. I don't both with supply hub in Savoy: just draw a fallback line avoiding 3 tiles in Savoy, that's good enough. I built 6-9 CIC and then full MIC. Intelligence agency in Jan 39 at latest: they give defense bonus against Germans in Belgium by killing their planning bonus. In the meantime, I clean north Africa, then Sardinia, then Sicily, then Italy. And if then I can't attack in Belgium, I''ll naval invade around Kiel and kill a lot of troops there. I'm done with WWII by mid-41, Jun-42 at latest if I roll over Europe alone to make sure I get max war point and can annex eastern Europe as well.

@@MachiavellianStrategist Well, no doubt you manage to reach your goal, so all the best. XP gains are a big issue as France (50% debuff) so Spanish war helps to 1) get an excellent mountain general to keep Italians from invading from the Alps 2) get the best field marshal in the game: promote Delattre as your attacking FM 3) get enough XP that by early 1940, when army debuff disappears, you spend 500 XP into SFP doctrine (as you did). The only doubt I have is the miss opportunity to fight early in Africa / South Italy. You'll probably fare well with forts against Germans, though I never build any. But with spies to protect you and while you pile up heavy equipment, you have some months to fight/encircle/subdue Italy, that's very fun. And also you can yield some nice naval XP by splitting your surface fleet in 2 and face the gallant Reggia Marina. All in all, France is under equipped and it takes long time to get what's needed, especially if you use resource to build infra + supply hub. I prefer to build MIC + radars and have around 10 powerful attacking divisions ASAP.

@@MachiavellianStrategist but knowing you, I know it's just a beginning, and you'll come up with new ideas. Recently I stay democratic to win WWII, form the EU and then choose either Napoleon/king/fascist and start a belated world conquest. 2 games in one!

What I do in the situation of the forts on the German line, is where they can attack from different zones, build higher level forts, in this way direct their attack to the lower level forts.

Level 4 forts are enough on the front with Belgium as long as you keep an eye on your divisions and manually reinforce them when struggling. If you want to worry less about micromanagement you can upgrade them (or some of them) to level 6. The thing is, we really want the Germans to attack into our forts, as it will wipe out their manpower and build up our warscore. If they are too high level the Germans usually do not attack, which might also free some of their divisions for helping Italy.

I haven't had the chance to test it after AAT, but I think this guide should not be affected by the AAT update. Of course you'll need to add the artillery battalions beside the infantry and it will be slightly more expensive in terms of army experience, but nothing else changes for the division templates. Great guide as always! When following along, I encountered the problem that world tension was always about 2% lower than in your run. Something different must have happened in the world early on, because it was that way all the way back to my save before the election. At any rate, if anybody else runs into this situation, it doesn't cause any issues until changing to partial mobilization, where if you try to wait until you have enough PP to do radio propaganda +partial mob, world tension will be too low, and if you get radio prop as soon as you can, your war support will be too low by the time that you have enough PP to go to partial mob. However, by January (just a couple of months later), war support is up enough to get partial mob, so it only puts you behind by a few months. I anticipate that means not as many Belgian forts will be complete, but hopefully that won't be a problem with a bit of micro. We'll see!

Thank you! And thanks for sharing this, it might help other people! The timing on some of those decisions is fairly close so I was worried something like that might happen, but in all of my test runs I always had enough war tension. In any case, as you said, it's just a matter of a couple of months and it won't make too much of a difference. If the forts are not enough we can prioritize them over a couple of factories. Or we can build them just in Belgium and not at the border with Italy, where they are less likely to be used! How many did you manage to build?

@@MachiavellianStrategist The delay in going to partial mob really doesn't seem to make a difference at all, luckily; I had plenty of time to finish all of the forts (level 4 in Belgium). The lower world tension did end up delaying when I could fabricate the claim on Slovakia - even after Germany had capitulated Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, and Denmark, world tension was at 99%. About a month after that it went to 100. This meant that by the time that my claim was finished, the election had already happened, so I was waiting until Develop the Metropole finished to start the war, but Germany declared on me first. Fighting the war now but eager to see how you do in the next video - I anticipate that getting more warscore than UK could be tricky, but I'll see if there are any tricks to that!

I really wonder what caused the lower war tension. I never had war tension below 100% by the time Germany goes berserker. But this really should not make a huge difference in terms of warscore. You will definitely have more than the UK and enough to take what's needed for the EU! The second part of the guide will be up tomorrow!@@roberttreder7534

Good purchase, those are the most important dlcs in my opinion! To answer your question, yes, there have been no updates recently so my tank, air and division templates guides are totally up to date! There should be an important update in early October though, we'll see if that changes anything!

You made two mistakes: 1, release Algiers as puppet (you annex it with focus and its free factories) 2, pick Relief of command, its way better

Thank you for your feedback. You might be right about Relief of command, being my first time playing a democracy I never really tested it. Getting the doctrines as fast as possible is a priority, but the extra 20% army exp is probably going to outvalue the doctrine discount! As for Algiers, which focus is that? The blum viollette proposal? And why is it better to release it first?

@@MachiavellianStrategist Yes Relief of command is always better. As for Algier, it is great to release it as puppet. Ai will complete the generic focuses giving you more mils and civs as well as dockyards. You release it at the start of the game in any game as France as long as you plan to complete the Blum Violete focus. There is really no good reason not to do it. If you release Algiers afterwards, you will have to annex it manually, plus you might lose your cores, so at start its the best as ai will do more focuses.

@@MachiavellianStrategist lol no I haven't watched it yet. Was assembling my new command chair. I've been looking forward to your France guide. I've hit France twice. Both times I came close to surviving, but inevitably the Germans break through the extended Maginot I build and that's pretty much it. The first time I managed to get the Dewoitines in production but had like 8 when Germany WTF pwnd me. Last time I was barely able to get a single wing of basic fighters out. Anyways, about to watch it for the first time here...

Mmm there could be several reasons. You could be losing them in battle, or course, or by training your units, or because of attrition/low supplies.
