The Democratic Republic of Congo's (DRC) armed forces repelled an attempted coup d'etat involving Congolese and foreign fighters on Sunday morning, a DRC army spokesperson said in a televised address. More information with FRANCE 24 correspondent in Kinshasa, Emmet Linvingstone.

The leader of the coup, a DRC politician, and some of his family who were involved have dual DRC/US citizenship. Just because someone is american and involved in international politics doesn't mean that they are CIA, they might even be against CIA. You need to learn more to find the truth.

This situation is not clear; there must be a mind game on Fatshi's part! How did a group of less than 100 people, who are not career soldiers, manage to enter a country (the DRC) with weapons and military uniforms and displaying the old flag of Zaire? How could they freely invade the city of Kinshasa without any resistance from the government security services? How were they able to go to government buildings supposed to be under total protection and sow panic there, like at the People's Palace? How were they able to go to the homes of politicians like Kamerhe without the intervention of the police? Don't senior Congolese politicians have bodyguards? How were they able to go to the office of the President of the Republic, enter it and shout too loudly inside without any military intervention? Isn't it guarded by the Republican Guard? How did this so-called Christian Malanga arrive with his child at an event which he knew very well could cause damage, both material and human? When did Malanga choose these people, when did he train them? It's a complete mystery! It's a comedy, the problem is that people lost their lives for nothing!

They weren't part of any political parties. They were Congolese nationals that lived abroad that had a heart for their country and the upheaval destroying millions of lives so they wanted change. Amongst the group were foreigners that stood by their plight. May their leader and the men that perish rest in peace and kudos to the Congolese army for swiftly neutralizing the situation. However, i am in great pain as this is due to boiling frustrations of years long turmoil

@@user-rq9kp3kl2f Depends on ones perspective. From my sense of immediate urgency for change, i would say no. From a perspective of non urgency to make radical decisions towards change, yes. If i compare the great strides that the Burkino Faso, Mali and Niger leaders have made since taking power in the past 3 years with the 6 years our president has had-well, i will just say that trying is similar to empty promises

We will be swept off the map if we cannot conduct ourselves with dignity. Another ham-handed attempt to reshuffle the deck while the cards are still in play. Maybe. Just maybe we should consider honest negotiations and offering something of real value instead of trying to game it out. Just offer something that they do not have. A path to freedom.
