To me the obvious reasons are: Harris is a woman of color, and the US are far from being ready to vote a woman into the highest office, let alone one of color. Second: the democracy in the US is already pretty weakened, due to the rich having almost unlimited ways to use their money to gain influence. Look at the stock market's reaction to Trump winning - it jumped up, the super rich are celebrating. When the democrats kept pointing at the great economy, they forgot to look at the details, aka who is and who isn't doing well. Now the voting sheep have voted to be fleeced even more strongly, thanks to reason Nr. 3: letting networks like Fox (run by a super rich person) get away with the all the dis- and misinformation they are spreading so freely. All the finger pointing done by the democrats now is useless, face up to what the usa really are, don't pretend you are the greatest country - you aren't. Far from it.

Neither party is close to where they have historically been, which in my opinion, is good and bad. Neither party is honest with the American people. The last time, and perhaps the only time in the past 150 years, that a president has been frankly honest with us was Jimmy Carter. He gave us the dark side of what was happening to our hostages, and he was criticized and defeated for being honest. No president in my lifetime has ever said, "Yep, our policies are not working so we need to look for solutions, and that is what we are doing now...". I am a Democrat and I could not stand the identity politics that seemed to be more important than talking about bread-and-butter issues. We alienated the working class and the middle. At least the winning candidate has been honest, sharing what he intends to do, which to many, sounds fascist. However, he won fair-and-square. The fact that the electorate could overlook his many character flaws defines us as a nation.
