Demolition Derby mid 70`s USA

As a kid in 1974, my family took a trip out West. In the Nevada desert, there were DOZENS of 1950's era cars that were just dumped for whatever reason. Imagine the clamor to get those classics NOW a days. My memory is a bit vague, but I seem to recall most of them, while partially stripped, did not appear to be severely damaged and many could have likely been repaired and re-used.

If I were a derby official...I would be doing to those white pants what the drivers are doing to the cars. Not sure how, I admit--but the challenge is worth the reward
