I hope all SPAS 12 owners have looked inside the receiver to make sure the buffer is intact...which many/most of the early version (such as these in the video...tip off is the lever safety) will have long disintegrated and be missing. Because the lever can trigger the gun to fire if there is a round in the chamber and two, make sure the buffer plug is there and if it is not or is hardened, replace it.

Love the channel. So amazed to see a SPAS12 episode. I bought my SPAS12 in 1988 directly from Mr. Morris the head salesman at FIE in OpaLocka, Fl where they were imported from Franchi of Italy. I went to high school with his daughter. I got a tour of the warehouse, manufacturing area (FIE also made some really cheap handguns...Titan 25...they sold for $35 each or 3 for$100), and shooting range. Yes, the SPAS12 is not the most comfortable or practical shotgun...that metal stock hurts; but it is one of the most fun to shoot from the hip. I've got mine with the push button safety (factory converted), hook, sling, muzzle diverter (like an oval choke tube), box, manual, and sales catalog. Franchi also made as you mentioned the LAW12 (semi-auto only), and the SAS12 (pump only), and the SPAS15 (the first that I know of Box Feed Magazine Shotgun). Why would you own one......why would you NOT?

Seeing as many of the drummers I dealt with broke their heads every other day, I was pretty sure that was the reason. I once played a show with this one dude who broke his snare head, and then turned it around and broke the bottom head, and then borrowed a completely different snare and broke the top head of that one too. Fucking crazy. That being said they were all single-ply and he wasn't using the two-ply heads he normally uses (wasn't even using his set). Don't get me wrong though, this dude is a good drummer. People who say many drummers hit way too hard often don't understand certain genres where getting big, tranisent drum sounds in a large mix require that. Not all drum heads are made from kevlar. Most are still made from plastic or fiberglass trying to sound like animal skin, or somewhat rarer actual animal skin, usually cowhide. However since the late 80s/early 90s or so marching drums, especially snare drums, have had kevlar heads to withstand a lot more tension and make a much louder, more piercing/cracking sound that carries better outdoors. Thank DCI for that.

"A gun's appearance has very little influence on its operation, but it can drastically alter how it is perceived. Scary black guns do exactly the same job as more traditional ones; they just look better doing it. The SPAS-12, a distinctive looking shotgun with some interesting features, and a commanding form. [...] Designed for duty, but destined for fame. An Imposing presence that has garnered great acclaim. Powerful both in form and in function; from classic 80's action cinema to first person shooters today, its depictions span decades... and yet it remains a favorite. *The SPAS-12: Versatile. Menacing. Clever girl.*" --XboxAhoy, 2015 I know you commented on that exact video many years ago, Matt. You can't erase your past.

The drum heads are for HTS (High Tension Snare) marching snare drums. They are the kind of snare drums used by the drummers in Scottish Bag Pipe bands. They are similar to American marching snares, but the heads are run at an even higher tension. The drum head is so tight, you need to use kevlar or they would pull apart before you ever got to hit them! Theyre pulled so tight, they feel like drumming on a marble countertop. (Source: lead snare drummer in a Scottish pipe band for many years) (Also, they sound like actual gunshots when they wear apart and do finally snap apart under tension!)

When I still lived in the UK, I got mine for £450 ($570) back in 1986 or thereabouts. The first time I showed up with at the local clay shoot, the stuffed shirts all had collective heart attacks and didn't allow me to shoot it there. I DID find a shoot which allowed me to attend, providing I did show a modicum of safety as pump-or-auto shotguns are frowned upon at a great many British clay shoots. The funny thing was that I saw several shooters with their traditional guns being asked to leave because they showed disregard for safety rules. The best thing came from some shooters who admitted they didn't like them - but could they try mine as they were curious. After they'd fired mine, they said that they still wouldn't buy one, but the important aspect was that they no longer voiced their objections to them. The ONLY mechanical issue I ever had with mine was that in the beginning the barrel porting clogged up the turning ring which allowed you to alternate between auto and manual. Once I cleaned it a few times and the gun was 'run in' - the problem went away. Yes, the piece has a 1000% cool factor - but do I think it's the most practical SG? Absolutely not.

@pewpewreview50432 жыл бұрын
The one in the Wraith had a wood stock, but also had the folder bolted to the wood stock which would not allow the folder to function. They just did it for aesthetics, along with the red lights that can be seen under the heat shield.
