I bought my daughter a Hi-Point C9 for her first gun. I was asked by a few people why I would do that. My answer was always because I am not a gun snob who is looking for an aesthetically pleasing gun, its a weapon not a fashion accessory. She learned to shoot with that gun, in fact she and I fired off around 500 rounds of ammo today (not just through the hi-point but it fired 250). She is buying a new gun because she wants to start carrying concealed and the hi-point is not the greatest option for that but she does intend to keep it for a range and home defense weapon.
@Sterling_Silver04 Жыл бұрын
I do conceal carry a C9, but given that I'm a guy it's a lot easier for me to do so. They are cheap, hella reliable, and if you are concealing it, no one is gonna notice how butt-ugly they are anyway.

That Hi-point is exceptionally high-quality for its price. It almost never jams, it'll work under almost ANY circumstance, and it's dirt cheap. The thing's god-tier compared to some other guns.
@jd91192 жыл бұрын
Yeah you know how it is. It's "cool" to talk crap about Hi Points. The truth is their guns work exceptionally well and when you have problems with them, Hi Point doesn't give you the run around in honoring their warranties. The whole point of Hi Points is to make the 2nd Amendment affordable for everyone. I wouldn't doubt if most of the people that talk crap also own one. Dealers sell a lot of these guns.

I actually really like it. I'm a Aussie who doesn't know anything and probably will ever get a firearm as it's quite the process here in Australia. But I like how cheap it is, like how reliable it is and how it's a no-nonsense straight out of the box performer at shooting rounds. It's like someone sat down and said, how can we make the easiest and cheapest pistol possible. I love that sort of design. If I ever do get a firearms license and if this firearm is Aussie legal (which I think it's not lol) I would love this as a great daily shooter at the range.
@Sterling_Silver04 Жыл бұрын
I own a C9, and yes they are wicked reliable. If I remember right that was the goal of Hi-Point when they were first founded, to make cheap and reliable firearms. The other thing that I love about them is they come with a lifetime warranty that covers pretty much everything but the theft of the gun. I garuntee you if the fellow in the video sent that thing in for repairs, they would either fix it or replace it free of charge.

Silent Jay People hate on them because they expect more out of firearm manufactures. They see a cheap gun, and they see a company that cuts costs at the expense of others. The fact it looks unrefined/ugly only exacerbates it. Calling the things "hi point" also rubs people the wrong way. And they're heavy. Fair enough. These are valid criticisms. I'm not one of those people. I used to be when I first got interested in guns, but I was merely parroting what others said. Hi points continue to prove themselves as reliable tools in nearly every video I've seen on them. As far as functionality goes, the only issues I've seen were magazine related. If you did these "tests" to nicer guns, I HIGHLY doubt they'd do much better if not worse.
@LordPrometheous7 жыл бұрын
Hi-Points are among the most popular guns used by criminals because they're cheap throwaway guns after committing a felony.
@MrJest27 жыл бұрын
+CaptainDerp - Me neither, and I'm quite the "gun guy". I actually see nothing particularly wrong or ugly about the Hi-Point offerings. I haven't had a chance to shoot one so I can't speak to the ergonomics... but I've got a wrist anatomy that makes the much praised Glock ergonomics feel clunky and awkward in my grip - I have to tilt my wrist downward at an uncomfortable angle to get the sights to line up. I'd never buy one, no matter how much other people rave about them. Who knows - maybe a Hi-Point would fit me perfectly? Point being, if it fits in your hand, works reliably, shoots anything fed to it, and won't blow up in your face, I'm down with it. "Ugly" is not really a consideration at all.

Try as you might tho the hipoint proved to be more durable & reliable than expected, well worth the money spent. I'm just curious about the other two guns being able to take the same punishment & perform as well as the highpoint? Maybe you've already made a video proving such? I'll just peruse your seemingly never ending library of videos. On a final note, I've always been a big fan from the beginning & have loved watching your rise to stardom. I bought my .40 cal HiPoint for the exact reason he mentioned. It's a cheap, accurate gun. It's the one I pack when I hit the woods or when I go canoeing. I can throw it in my tool box and not worry about it getting banged around. If I lose it or drop it in the lake, I won't be out a grand. When I go to the range, I take my Kimber.

I got mine at the Air Force base I worked on. It was $139 a couple years ago.
@patrickneff4426 жыл бұрын
I bought mine about a month or so ago. Part of the reason is this video. Also I know quite a few people that raved about it for the price. But hell, 165 for a 40. Illinois has the melting point law so I won't be able to get them easily and jumped on it. Biggest issue is the magazines. And people limp wrist them alot. Or fail to fully pull back the slide.
@patrickneff4426 жыл бұрын
John Stewart in my opinion, yes. Not an issue thus far. Haven't put steel cased rounds through it and I've heard to stay away from them. It is a bit heavy, and but it's nothing crazy. I've held numerous pistols that weighed similar. It is a bitch to strip down, I'd recommend avoiding doing so and sending it to them if you're not familiar with it. Just because of the way it's made. But hell I'm thinking of grabbing the 9mm. They're cheap, durable and easy to replace if need be. I will say watch the magazines. The lips tend to be slightly too tight and seems to be everyone's issue with feeding. At least the ones I know. They all took needle nose pliers and made very slight adjustments. No more jamming. Other than when limp wristing it stove pipes like a mfer. The slide is a bit tough, you definitely need to make sure you pulled back fully. I'd recommend cycling snap caps. But hey it's just my opinion.

My first pistol was a Hi Point .45 . I got it because it was inexpensive, they build them in Ohio and guarantee them for life. Out of the box it jammed constantly and then I checked out that new fangled thing The World Wide Web. 30 seconds and a pair of needle nose pliers later the mag was tweaked and it never jammed on me again. I bought more guns and it disappeared into the bottom of a desk drawer where it held up paperwork for 5 years. Last month I found it cleaning out the desk to move it.... damn if it didnt fire the entire mag first try. I love this thing for the same reason I love my AK with wood furniture. If your mag goes empty, you can beat the hell out of someone with it until you can reload.

@@viperish6103 I really don't see how that is supposed to be funny...so I guess there's something I'm missing. I'm not trying to shit on someone's joke but I really don't see how it's a joke in the first place. I have a hi-point jhp .45 and i think it's only ugly bc of the mag. It has a huge plastic brick on the bottom that sticks out about an inch from where the grip ends. It's a good gun, the first night I bought it I killed a skunk that had sprayed our dumb dogs more than once. It's accurate and I can't think of a single time I've had a misfire or a jam.
