To me, Old King Allant will always be the final boss of Demon Souls. This final boss is essentially the true form of that avatar and what makes this enemy's weak state so significant is the fact that the main villain of this game is a once-peaceful monarch who became depressed and attempted to claim a deadly power for himself. It's because he wasn't worthy enough for this power that he became this shambling mutant. That's why this boss fight feels more like finishing off the weakened body of a more climactic enemy more than an actual final boss. And honestly, that's just what I was hoping they'd keep for this remake.

@@iseeopenings3921 Allant was the one who pushed for the return of the Souls Arts to make his kingdom of Boletaria great again, and realized the truth behind the world as he encountered the Old One. He believed that there was no point at all to life, and that the world deserved to be wiped away, once and for all. The False King was a replica he created to make sure nobody would interfere with the world's decay, and only admits you entry into the Old One once you've slain the archdemons. The player character isn't different, ultimately. The choice we make is irrelevant, ultimately. If we let the Maiden put the Old One back to sleep, the game itself acknowledges that while the world is saved for now, the Soul Arts will once again be coveted sooner or later...starting the crisis again. If we kill her and take the Old One's power for ourselves, we just become the biggest archdemon of them all to finish the job. The world is doomed, ultimately, because the story implies, just short of directly stating, that God abandoned mankind and is completely fine with letting the Old One obliterate them all.

Old King Allant is basically the final boss we need to fight in order to kill King Allant. The actual final boss of course is the King Allant himself weakened as we know. It’s interesting how you fight the fake version of him and then face the actual one that is easy. Pretty sure the bosses are connected as you go below the nexus to the old one, so its like they are both the final bosses.

@@Luxembourgish I just rewatched the original and yes it is. I've noticed that the player is looking around the Nexus like "What the hell just happened?" Then the Maiden does her anime turn 'looking' at the player like she just found the person she's been looking for this whole time. The Maiden then holds the player's hand which surprises the player and they make 'eye contact' and fall into the hole. Here Maiden just turns grabs the player's hand and they drop into the pit.

There it's skin begins to pulsate as if something is trying to burst out until a great piller of flame and power erupts from the corpse of the dragon god and a smaller yet still powerful version of the dragon god fights you. Think Nameless king, a large humanoid fight against a powerful god like foe

@Joseph Waters Every single thing you said is false. What are you, a Bluepoint developer? Demon's Souls is perfectly emulated at 60fps, you can see that for yourself by a quick search on YT. The graphics of the original are perfectly fine and the artistic direction of the original is more coherent to the overall narrative than the remake, which has an extremely bad artistic direction. The textures might be old but they are not "ugly", they are very nice and detailed for their time. In general the original game is a very enjoyable game and one of the best games of all times.

Demon souls bosses are just easier in general. The struggle is the lack of spawn points. I doubt the longest trek to start a boss fight in any of the souls games are half as far as some of those demons souls. Dark souls bosses sponge up damage for 30 minutes while a demons souls boss will get obliterated by a +10 weapon

Just beat this game for the first time yesterday, and while I do like the idea that this boss is easy on purpose to illustrate how pathetic the true King Allant really is, I think it would’ve been more effective if this fight had happened immediately after Old King Allant, rather than being it’s own separate encounter. I know that was never really possible because of the open-world design of the game, but seriously, overcoming all of the bosses and then having this be the final confrontation is pretty anticlimactic, even if it is thematically fitting. Also cause I reaaaally wanted a fight against the Old One itself.

@WildGooseberry yet Nintendo doesn’t use the same 8-bit soundtrack for every Mario game. There was already a trailer released about how they went about reimagining the soundtrack. It’s fine to have different tastes but if the only move you would’ve done was to “keep the original” then you’re not in a position to criticize. Maybe it would’ve been better if they had an option to use the original soundtrack to satisfy the nostalgia of fans such as yourself.

There is a theory that Elden Ring is a prequel to all of the other souls games. The Dark Moon ending = Bloodborne Frenzied Flame ending = Destroys the golden order which become the undead in Dark Souls And the destined death ending = Demon's souls
