One important thing that is not clear in the anime due to the lack of a narrator is the following: Any hunter can use any breath, HOWEVER, it does not mean that any breath will match the hunter.

Not every hunter can use every breathing. Everything derives from sun breathing meaning tanjiro can use them all. Instead of every other hunter.

@@jacobmartinez3862 that's not true, Tanjiro's trainer told him anyone can be taught any breath but that doesn't mean they will be good at it like a natural breath user of that form, which is why Tanjiro said he's not as skilled at water breathing like Giyu is, and later tells Zenitsu he couldn't go as fast as he did since Tanjiro is a sun user that is where he is most skilled

Basically every hunter is unique and suitable for their own breathing styles...while some cannot use these breathing styles opt for other techniques like eating Demons to boost their stats like Genya... Every hunter must figure their own suitable Breathing techniques for themselves under training

One thing which you mentioned at the start Sonny - Tanjiro hasn't *unlocked* Thunder Breathing. Remember ALL forms are from the first form, which is the form (without spoiling majorly) that Tanjiro uses. So technically, Thunder Breathing is a copy of HIS form ;D

Besides that, breathing techniques aren't locked anyway. Just because someone decide to specialize into one breathing doesn't mean he can't ever use a technique from another. But with your reasoning it makes sense why tanjiro doesn't needed to train it beforehand!

I don't usually cry almost at all while watching shows but the scene with Nezuko was just heartbreaking, having the whole season go through without casualties among main characters was feeling off, so I figured we would lose someone at the end. Nezuko 'bait" was definitely on point, we all thought she's done for.

That Nezuko scene was so well done, that even having read the manga and thus knowing the outcome, I was still crying my eyes out. I saw it from Tanjiro's perspective, and it just broke me. In a way, knowing what would happen allowed me to just feel the moment, without the added confusion and denial thrown into the mix.

Oh man... I cried once again watching this and I'm pretty sure I will cry watching the movie with this episode and the first of season 4. I think it's because of the blood in her family that might be the reason but I'm not a manga reader so I'm in the dark like you. The moment Nezuko kicked Tanjiro was one of the most selfless things because she wanted him to protect those guys from the demon. She is getting so powerful and caught Muzan's attention which is so bad haha.

Fun fact: the Blue Spider lily is a rare bloom that blooms 2-3 days per year and only during the day. At night and when not in bloom, it resembles a common weed. That's why Muzan never could find it in a thousand years. Happy fun fact: the villagers thanking Tanjiro wasn't in the manga. It was added to the anime and imo, improves this arc. This arc ends at Manga vol 15, chapter 127. There's 23 Volumes in total.

I think this is maybe a less popular opinion, but I really like that this episode hints at a more complex, biological idea of 'demonhood.' Obviously, the concept in the story has some very real spiritual significance, but the concept of demonhood's origins as a biological one is really fascinating to me. Demonhood can kind of be considered a virus that originated as a mutation within Muzan, and because he serves as the progenitor of all demons, the virus stays basically the same for a thousand years. It grants its host astonishing strength at the cost of an insatiable hunger for blood and a fatal vulnerability to the sunlight. Yes, it manifests somewhat differently in each host, but every version is granted as some version of a "blood art," which look like mystical spells but are ultimately rooted in any particular demon's mastery of its own physiology and tempered by its lived experience as a human. Muzan desired ultimate control and strength due to his constant proximity to and fear of his own death - so the virus gave him (nearly) perfect control over his own body, and because he was an utter sociopath to begin with, he has no compunctions regarding exerting that control over others to further his goals. Then, a millennium later, we get Nezuko. Because she denies the 'virus' its usual form of sustenance, it's forced to undergo an evolutionary shift for the first time ever. I think this forces the second ever real mutation of the Demon 'virus' and serves as a cascade for everything that happens with Nezuko from the beginning of the series through now. This is all just my theory given what the story gives us, but I do think it's a neat idea.

It’s been mentioned here a few times that all of the breathing forms were developed beneath the umbrella of Sun Breathing, with many sharing similar techniques. You see the brief glimpse of Tanjiro using a pseudo form of Thunder breathing, which held similarity to Rengoku’s 9th form he used as a last ditch effort against Akaza, and then again near the end of the episode here where he took the head of the resentment version of Hantengu. Also the Sun Halo Dragon Head dance seen earlier this season bears striking resemblance to Water Breathing’s 10th form, constant flux. Love the subtle nods all the subsequent breathing forms give to their forefather 😂

In my reading of what happened with Muzan and the doctor was that when Muzan killed his Doctor he was cursed and it was then that he couldn’t go out in the sun, and not because of the medicine back.

ive only seen the anime so i dont know if theres gonna be more explaining about nezuko surviving, but theres actually a really little clue in episode 19 of first season, when tanjiros life is flashing before his eyes in one of those little bubbles of the past that he sees theres actually a blue spider lily which means that plant that muzan was searching for was somewhere around their house and nezuko probably had some interaction or even ate it at some point...and in this episode when her blood is examined we see some blue-ish cells so atm thats my theory. tanjiro doing thunder breathing was hype as fuck to me, and the power system/breathing techniques being based only on different ways to position and move your body make that very possible and not feel like an asspull... s4 is coming soon this spring i believe

The Blue Spider Lily mutated Muzan's body in combination with his disease to turn him into what he is. In a similar fashion, Nezuko's body has been mutating, which is why she was able to eventually withstand the sun. Theories include the fact that she comes from a Sun Breathing lineage as well as the fact that she never actually ate any humans, and so her body mutated in ways normal demons never could.

I love that moment where Nezuko is revealed to be alive. If they kill Nezuko, it's like, holy shit they went there. Now, it's the fact that Nezuko becomes the demon Muzan has been looking for for one thousand years, which is why she lives. Underrated writing, in my opinion.

I don't know how much of what I'm saying I'm making up and how much is actually confirmed. You probably remember Rui (lower 5) and how it's unusual for demons to group together and play family. One of Rui's fake sisters said that Rui had permission to do this because he was Muzan's favorite. After Rui died, Muzan said that the lower moons were useless and killed almost all of them. Now we know that Muzan was sick when he was human and the same is true for Rui. I guess Muzan particularly liked Rui because they were so similar in that regard. It would be somehow fitting for a narcissist like Muzan to love someone just because he sees something of himself in them.

Nezuko wasn't going to let her brother(Tanjiro) choose her at the expense of those swordsmiths who were at risk of being killed by that demon. Mitsuri(by extension) would've been killed too, because of Tanjiro's indecisiveness, so Nezuko chose for him.

One of the biggest plot twist was that scene with Nezuko. Whatever that medicine was, this doctor was something else. My question was, is musan even a demon or more something like a mutant?... If Muzan think he don't need more demons, than he have to trust his last 3 upper ranks. They are very dangerous. Or Muzan do it all by himself.

Muzan’s disease together with the medicine caused some cause of mutation into a demon it seems.

I don't want to tell you so many spoilers but he doesn't know about the thing you are supposed to mix the Blue Lilly with blood that's how the first demon was born. He doesn't know about it because he can turn people into demons right. And the true demon who's never tried human flesh and face the Sun is going to be able to conquer it. Muzan didn't know about it of course he got possessed by this power I just got crazy. And about demon slayers they all technically can do the sorts of breathing but not all breathing can be suitable for the certain Hunter. Some people could use 2 breathing stuff ( spoiler) like Tomioka))))
