Akaza was easily the best and most respectable antagonist in Demon Slayer. Even Daki's and Sanemi's backstories didn't make me feel as sad as his did. He didn't deserve any of the suffering that he was put though. All he wished for was a normal life, and someone who he could love and protect.

@@Taimyyyy No actually it's going to *take 4-5 years to be fully animated* because the fights are too difficult and will need expertise to be perfected for the animation as it depends on how high or demanding the budget can be as an anime episode actually costs over *$1m dollar to make* also the Entertainment District arc *took 2 years* to make as that arc took an *hour of reading* including the Swordsmith Village which is also an hour as well but for Infinity Castle, its actually over *2 hours of reading* because a 2 hour arc will take a long time to perfect as that will take 4-5 years to be adapted into the anime. The Infinity Castle arc is actually 4-5 years to make, depending the length from the manga, how high or demanding the budget is to nake such an arc and how difficult the fights going to be as your not going to expect 2 years of this to be animated, lol. Entertainment District arc- 1:25:00 Swordsmith Village arc- 1:10:00 Hashira training arc- 40:00 Infinity Castle arc- 2:30:00 (if combined with Hashira training arc, then that's 3:10:00 which will clock in around 4:40:00 when animated) Sunrise Countdown arc- 1:20:00 If you combined the Hashira training arc with the Infinity Castle arc, then it will take a long time to animate as your actually expecting 4-5 years actually, *NOT 2024* because an arc like that, will need some time to perfect actually. Yes I have plenty of mangas and actually an 1 hour arc actually takes about 2 years to animate and a 2 hour arc takes about 4-5 years to animate as its not how you expected the Infinity Castle arc to eventually take to fully animate.

@@natasha6590 that's not why. Upper Moon 2 reveals that Akaza refused to eat or even harm women. He would only go after men. As fucked up as it is, eating women makes you stronger than eating men in the Demon Slayer universe. Upper Moon 2 was made a demon way after Akaza was, but Upper 2 became more powerful because he mostly ate women. Hell, Akaza at one point wanted to kill Upper 2 and 1, but lacked the strength to do so

Akaza, even though I've only watched the anime and movie, is such an interesting character. Despite being in the role of an antagonist, he seems to be a genuinely neutral character. I don't know anything past his appearance in Mugan, but he seems to actually have the potential for attachment to others, albeit being valuing the strong. Am very interested in seeing where this character goes as the anime progresses forward.

The manga does everything it can to make you hate akaza's guts only to pull the rug out from under you by not only making him the be the only demon (apart from Nezuko) with any sort of morals but then give you make him the most understandable demon and shows you how he gained those morals ontop of it bieng the most tragic backstory in demon slayer. And then when i watched mugen train i realized that the first line akaza has ties into his backstory and changes what seems like generic villain dialogue into something that is way more impactful on rewatch. Aswell as lines like "Your fighting Spirt has been honed to its hilt" makes so much more sense when tanjiro figures out how compass needle works. Overall he's the most well written character in demon slayer imo.

My 2 most favorated characters from Demon Slayer: Rengoku and Akaza. Rengoku has a pure and courageous heart and sacrificed his life to protect everyone till the end. Akaza was a dangerous Demon, but fought with honor and had a sad backstory. I imagined if Akaza wasn't a Demon, he and Rengoku would be great friends because deep inside Akaza wanted to protect his loved ones so he is very similar to Rengoku. But they lived in two different worlds. One is controlled by the Demon king, and one is loyal to the master of Demon slayer corp. The fact that they made these two characters clash together is like a dream come true. I wish Ufotable animate a scene after Akaza dies and he meets Rengoku in the land of the dead where he apologizes to Rengoku and he forgives Akaza and they become great friends.

I like Rengoku even though I realized I just knew his character for a few hours, and then I watched the movie couple of times just about his battle with Akaza to range my hatred for Akaza. Later, I read manga about the final battle between him and Giyu Tanjiro, I shook my manga and yelled his name before Tanjiro, yell his name: "AKAZAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!" because I was really mad at him for Rengoku's death :(. Even till today, I still clearly remember how I cried my ass out when his backstory-part came up his fate was just beyond tragic its too painful to witness Most of viewers today was just oblivious to these outcome since he just take out their beloved Rengoku. And by that, they called him cowardice characters. No. He was among if not the most honorable antagonist characters out there, he honour his own defeat, and that alone was a great feat since Muzan had always put his control stronger among the Upper-ranks. Listening to this made me remember what Urokodaki told Tanjiro: "There are only one demon in this world, the others are victims." This quote could quite relate to Akaza. Akaza didn't ask to become a demon, Muzan forced him to and when he became one, he forgot his humanity and began putting all his best at fighting and when asked what was he fighting for, he realized there was nothing. That's it bro. Akaza's backstory made me learn so many things and rethink about my whole life. Now he's literally my favourite demon slayer character. I think the main message of his backstory is: NEVER, EVER, judge a person without knowing his past. Akaza is actually just as kind as Tanjiro, but in the demon slayer verse where everyone has a sad backstory, his backstory was BY FAR the saddest.

just finished the manga, and LOVED this series. Flaws: power system needs to be better explained, kinda wish we had more chill time between arcs to build tension, more explanation/time w/ the whole memroy thing, some of the fights (ex: zenitsu vs upper 6) needed more time to develop, would have loved more scenes with inosuke and zenitsu. Tamayo was kinda overpowered toward the end lol, kanao too. Strengths: the sheer amount of HEART in this series is outstanding. Tanjiro using his pain to motivate him to save others is beautiful, and parallels how the pillars use their sadness to prevent others from feeling the same pain. The pillars are all awesome imo, with their backstories being really cool and their personalities being really distinct. (Rengoku, Toki, Igoru, Hamejima, Sanemi, Mitsuri are my faves) I do wish we got more time with them but i still love em. The focus on teamwork between humans and demons to kill muzan rocked. Watching tanjiro become a demon and having human nezuko save him was a great callback to the beginning. Seeing all the fallen soul's aid tanjiro in his rejection of muzan was beautiful, and might be the best panel in the series. THE FIGHTS HOLY COW are so damn cool. This series gets crap for being "simple" and "ripping stuff off", but imo it builds off of existing shonen ideas and really puts them to use in cool ways. For instance, our hero grows a LOT through various training montages, but in the end, its the growth of EVERYONE that ultimately wins the day. Also, as a Hindu, it was cool to see reincarnation be used in such a cool way,

I absolutely agree with you. This series is very wholesome and at the same time very emotional and depressing. It is also realistic because it shows how precious human life is. When you get wounded severely or even die, it shows the harsh consequences to the characters. The demons were also very amazing. Their character designs and development is very wonderful and iconic. There were also a lot of epic badass battles and depressing death scenes too. I hope those flaws you listed will bee explained better in the anime format. This is the only show I want to have extra fillers because I want to see more of them. The reincarnation theme was used very effectively too

When I got the notification and saw Akaza’s name, I knew it was a must to listen. And boy, you did not disappoint at all(like usual) I FELT THE EMOTIONS IN THIS ONE. Akaza is my favorite upper moon and his backstory as Hakuji was just so tragic. He really was a selfless boy who kept losing people who he valued and loved because of the selfish and jealousy. Even though he became a demon but he still for some reason kept a sense of his moral principles such as not hurting or eating women and honoring the strong when he fought them. On top of that, he was loyal to Muzan and because Muzan recognized that he honored Akaza’s wishes not to hurt women. And when he remembered his past, he decided to end himself. Truly an honorable demon. HONESTLY IMO best demon in the series.

They didn't need to know, but they can feel. Because Rengoku was the best straightly person who had no one-sided personal emotion but always understood (he demonstrated his best personal for Tanjiro when he believed in Nezuko). Tanjiro saw Akaza's last smile in the final battle, full of peace and gratitude (Akaza's last smile looked really exactly like Rengoku did). So I think with Tanjiro'swarm heart, he can feel Akaza. And Giyu saw Akaza's last action was about to use his own technique on himself. I think Giyu will know how Akaza did it even though Akaza was so close to evolution to regenerate.
