But how do you test them? How would you "test" Noah? He prophecied the flood for 120 years while he physically did something about it, he built the ark. How would a common ordinary mind judge him? Your best bet is to go straight to the source, and ask God about what's true and what's false. Don't judge according to your flesh mind, what is "commom." Keep a strong spirit and let it confer with God. He knows what He said and to whom He said it. "Common sense" won't get it -- it's "Common." God is not common. He'll surprise you every time!

@bruce8961 A false prophet thinks that either he himself IS God, or that the one he speaks for IS God. Since he or the one he represents is God, that person therefore has the right to redefine reality, redefine morality, etc, and therefore tells God that THIS is the way it must be and will be. He will also tell us this as well. If we do not abide by this redefinition of reality, then we must be destroyed. Effectively, the false prophet is an agent of change, and not for the better. Saying and declaring that a person can be a cat or that a person/corporation can steal means that it is now reality that a person IS a cat, and that person can live off of me.

@@bruce8961 Because a false prophet does not only predict. He also teaches and declares something in the name of his god, whether it is himself or another. What did Elijah, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Zechariah, and even Jesus and his apostles do? They taught as well. Besides, I'm not convinced that prophets only told the future in the sense that God directly reveals what will specifically happen. Thry also teach what will happen if you go down a certain path. They teach reality and the laws of sowing and reaping. I don't see where the disagreement is. I completely agree that there are many behind the pulpit trashing the truth. Actually, you just proved my point by saying that a false prophet predicts, it doesn't come true, and some of them (your words) are behind the pulpit preaching (teaching) a different gospel.

We do not have prophets in our times, we live by faith not by sight, 2 Corinthians 5:7. Prophesies has ceased or fails, 1 Corinthians 13:8 and we only have false teachers 2 Peter 2:1. We cannot do things that were done under the Law, for the Law is not of faith, Galatians 3:12. So, if God is coming to people and making himself known that would destroy faith. God bless
