Fiddler on the green is based on two car accidents which the singer Hansi Kürsch had to witness, The first one a little boy on his bike was killed and a short time after that same spot a little girl. The Fiddler on the green is a german expression for the reaper. Listen to the song with that tragic in mind and it gives you the chills.

Demons & Wizards is sort of a super group/side project formed from the bands Iced Earth & Blind Guardian. The two bands toured together a lot during the 90s and Hansi Kürsch (lead singer) and Jon Schaffer (Acoustic & Rhythm guitar) became good friends and decided to an album together which this song is the title track to. They put out one other album in the 2000s then went silent as both Hansi and Jon were busy with their other bands. 2019 was the 20th anniversary so they put together a tour and are putting out a new album. The group actually doesn't tour much due to the members commitments to other bands.

their whole set was really really good! And this as the end point was just perfect. D&W were one of the best of the whole festival imo.

Wacken, Germany (pronounced VAH-kin) is in Northern Germany just 55 miles south of the Denmark border and about 40 miles North-Northwest of Hamburg. It's just a small rural community that hosts one of, if the biggest Metal music festivals in the world annually of between 80 and 100K fans. The 2013 Nightwish performance had 82K fans if I recall.

Wacken is a little village (1000 people) in Germany. One time in the Year for 3 Days is Wacken the Heavy Metal Mekka with 80.000 Metal Fans.

I was there! D&W totally stole the festival, and Fiddler on the green was their last song, absolutly astonishing!
