My zunder works really well with Fibafuse tape. (I want to try mine next with the Fibafuse MAX, but its out of stock where I normally buy). I run it with "thin" Sheetrock 90, making sure to break it down and clean it out before the mud starts to set up, otherwise the clean-up is brutal in the nooks and crannies. Last friend I helped do reno's we had this going, and a "TapeBuddy" dispenser for the small pieces. I wish I had bought the zunder a few projects ago.

I don't use it as much but it's a much more fun application than hand taping.

@basementcoach3 жыл бұрын
I would consider that a serious upgrade. How do you find it? For me, I do so little mudding and taping now since we sub it out that adding tools doesn't make sense...that hasn't stopped me but it's something that probably should.

I really like it. Taping inside corners and flats are way easier. I only use fiba fuse for the flats. Very strong and thin.

We remodel kitchens & bathrooms and on 1-2 week jobs even if you can find a finisher its going to ad days to the job so I finish all the drywall out of necessity. I am going to get a Delco on your recommendation. Do you have any tips on coating joints? I have moved away from a mud pan to working right our of the bucket using a bucket scoop and a trowel as a hawk. When its time to fill tapers or cover butts I will load trowel out of the bucket (remember I'm standing in a 5'x11' bathroom) and spread it on the wall from the trowel then use a skimming knife to float it out. Would like to see how you finish after taping.

@@berniebower7891 I do find it puts too much mud on and you have work out some kind of runway like set up to pull the tapes. Atleast with the banjo you can control the mud output.

I bought this and as a guy who runs the banjo often you will hate this tool has a extremely serious flaw
@basementcoach2 жыл бұрын
Geez, what's the flaw you've run into? We've been using it frequently but we also run a bazooka depending on the job. We're looking at getting a banjo with a cutter on it.

I'm not a occasional taper it's all I do everyday. Any everyday taper will immediately hate this thing
@basementcoach2 жыл бұрын
I strictly board and tape these days. It's effective for smaller jobs but not having a cutter tool for the inside corners is a negative for this tool. It takes practice and even then it's sometimes annoying. But I'm 6'3" I can usually get the ceiling from the ground. My partner is...shorter shall we say. So he will run the bazooka if he's alone.

The reason why you won't find a solid mudder for cheap is because us mudders don't like doing another's job
@basementcoach3 жыл бұрын
It's an artform that is VERY undervalued. God bless those who do it. Just the basic math of what a fair wage is doesn't compute for most people. Take into account the skill and expertise tapers have for something so difficult and it's never inexpensive. If anything, I'll be teaching my sons to board and tape...or getting them jobs with someone who REALLY knows how to do it.

It shouldn’t be hard to convince people to spend money on the part of the house that is going to show the MOST but it always seems that way. A good finisher is worth his weight. As a carpenter I take it on because I’m trying to turn a small middle class bathroom remodel in a week, so if is Tuesday at 2:30 I’m breaking out the finish tools. There’s just no way to schedule a guy like that.

I’m literally teaching this in class right now. I’ll send you something. Have you looked into the 18” or 24” skim blades? They are magical!
@berniebower7891Күн бұрын
I use them every job. On remodels I like to skim out the entire room. Going over painted walls I have to move fast because if the mud dries just a little and I wipe back over it it will “tear” away. Thanks again.
@basementcoach21 сағат бұрын
@@berniebower7891 I use a trowel and a skim blade. I do have a 10” and 12” flat box but for small jobs it’s not worth busting them out and then having to clean them. At school, we have a 24” blade and a 36”. I feel like 24” skim blade is versatile enough to handle small and medium stuff.

Between this and a "TapeBuddy" for the small pieces, it sure makes taping a lot less messy. (I use Fibafuse with Sheetrock90 hot mud to reduce downtime and reduce shrinkage)

As a taper, it makes more sense to have a bazooka. But as a companion to do small jobs in between bigger ones it could be pretty handy. That way, you wouldn't have to bring everything with you. It's a thought.

You look like a taper; including the undies... But, seriously, no blade to cut the tape? Every other banjo type I've seen has a blade. The corner roller usefulness is debatable. Good vid though.
@basementcoach3 жыл бұрын
I'm pretty slow running tapes by hand so it's been great for me. The no blade is not the greatest thing but I think it's because the head is interchangeable and does both flats and corners. Integrating a cutter for each might be a bit complicated but what do I know...
