I started my Agricultural Engineering apprenticeship in 1967. The ford main dealer i worked for was Cleales of Haverhill. They bought 2 of the Ford demonstrator Thames traders with their single axle trailers. Interesting film.

Ford sure knew how to put on a show. Their marketing, advertising and demonstration techniques were among the best. You can bet seeing these tractors doing the job they were made for and doing it well helped fill order books rapidly

My Grandfather bought a new 5000 in 1966, and I am now the proud owner.

Takes me back, I worked there in the late 70's, at the time of the Ford strike. I was in the engineering dept and so had to cross the picket line each morning as desk jobs were not in the strike. They were building the Turbo inter-cooled 6 cyl, a real beast.

I drove a demo 5000 with selectomatic. A great tractor compared to the MF 165's we had

Fords didn't have 'Selectomatic' - you're getting confused with David Browns !
