Another reader suggested that Biden not feeling well was also maybe dehydrated and when older people especially are that way they can be a little off kilter and I believe CNN stated that one of the rules was there could be no water for the candidates to drink( now why would they do that). After the debate Biden probably got hydrated and felt much better which explains why he seems more energetic later that evening and at the rally on Friday.

Hey David, you're talking about my Detroit Red Wings. Brilliant in one game and horrible in the next. That's why I didn't panic after the debate. I truly believe that Biden would not stay in office if he couldn't do the job. Remember, he stepped aside from a presidential run as Vice President for Hillary Clinton because he was still mourning his son's death and couldn't give it 100%. I believe he was possibly over medicated for his cold, which is easy to do for older persons. He may have been dehydrated, which has serious effects. He also may have finally been feeling the effects of 2 trips to Europe without resting properly. Instead of resting properly when he was sick, he may have been preparing for the debate. I don't believe his family or staff would let him continue to run for office if he was seriously ill. Biden certainly seemed on top of his game at the North Carolina rally the next day. The president actually has a staff, cabinet, and Democratic lawmakers as part of his team. Biden and the team have gotten results with a nutty GOP House. It seems every in office president has a bad first debate. Also, Joe Biden is stubborn. There is no way he will be intimidated by these whining cowardly so-called democrats calling for him to bail out. This reminds me of the attack against Howard Dean and the active connivance of the media in wrecking Dean's chances. Start naming names of these so called Democratic cowards who hide behind the media personalities. Now, maybe I'll let you know how I really feel about them another time. Stop drinking the GOP and media kool-aid! 😂😂😂

I heard that the candidates were supposed to fact check in their responses. Problem is, it was impossible for me to keep up with all the lies that Trump was spewing. If President Biden was ill, his head would’ve probably been foggy, and Trump’s lies more than likely made it spin. Biden was prepared for the debate, he came with facts and policies, Trump came with nothing but lies. Sometimes it’s hard to keep up with a liar. I will not abandon my President or my country.💙🇺🇸💙

Let’s say, for discussion, that a president likes to go to bed early. He’s up early, refreshed and ready to tackle the day, but he’s tired by 9, ready to read a bit and fall asleep. Another president stays up all night, but he’s unavailable in the morning work hours, often until noon. I’d rather have the first guy.

When elderly people have an illness they can become fuzzy and disoriented to a degree, especially if there is a fever. That may well be what happened to Biden. Perhaps the debate should have been postponed until he was better. I have seen this many times. as a nurse so we need to take this into account. That also explains the next day when Biden was on point.
