3:14 "The engine oil plays a role in cooling the engine"...well yeah but it plays a massive role in lubricating the engine, it will score up the bearings and cam within a few minutes if the pump isn't running.

Is the dowel made from soft metal or hardened like a 6mm bearing roller. Like will a soft pin shear right off when the clutch is under load.
@HeavyMetalParkingSpot Жыл бұрын
I think it’s hardened. I highly doubt it would snap off. But it would be great if anyone who knew more would chime in.
@HeavyMetalParkingSpot Жыл бұрын
Realized now that maybe you were asking about the pin I made? It was soft and not something I would actually use, I would be scared of it snapping.
@sidecarbod1441 Жыл бұрын
@@HeavyMetalParkingSpot Its just driving the pump, it won't be under much load, even if it was just made of mild steel it would be fine, having said that it will be made of something better, its just the way the Japs do this sort of stuff, Its probably case hardened.

I found one of these when I rebuilt my engine, probably from a previous repair, I didn't realize at the time what this pin was for, so thanks for the info. Fortunately, I have fitted an oil pressure instrument to my engine, so I am sure that I have oil pressure. 🤞👍

My LS 650 clutch linkage broke. So since I had to tare it down to fix it I put new clutch disks in it while I had the cover open. It's been about 8k miles since then so I guess I got lucky.

Not sure the likelyhood of you seeing sn 11 month old comment. But im soon to replace my neutral switch. Is it possible to replace this switch without taking the whole clutch case off? Or does it have to come off. Thank you!
@HeavyMetalParkingSpot3 ай бұрын
Hey! The neutral switch is held in place by two screws, and I'm pretty sure at least one of them, if not both, are covered by the clutch case. You might be able to get in there with some kind of offset screwdriver, but then you'll have to be able to get the actual switch out as well.

Obviously this pin engages into that driven gear if you dont notivce on reassembly that the drive peg is not there you should stay away from engines and pay attention more , you wouldnt forget to fit a woodruff key into a keyway for example, its clear that gear needs that drive peg/pin to function , good video however
@HeavyMetalParkingSpot Жыл бұрын
I don't think anyone should stay away from engines, it's great fun and you learn a lot. But I do agree with the fact that it's important to pay attention. If you pull the clutch basket and manage to missplace the pin, I don't think it’s super obvious where it goes, and that's why I made this video. I hope you didn't feel like I wasted your time just stating the obvious, it makes me glad that you still thought the video was good. Take care! ✌️

Just another one of those impossibly annoying small parts that really should be in the engine not under it or still on the workbench after assembly.. i wonder how many folks have rebuilt something and found a small bit and thought it not important..
@HeavyMetalParkingSpot Жыл бұрын
Right?! This little thing is 6x6 millimetres! It could easily be misstaken for an off-cut or something if found on the garage floor. I bet lots of people have found themselves missing important parts like this one when reassembling.

@@HeavyMetalParkingSpot lol it's one of those 10mm socket phenomenon.. you knew it was there but where did it go .. Watching videos of ugly bikes on KZbin seem like an awful waste of time. There are tons of videos on here of different bikes, I'm sure you will be able to find one featuring a bike you think is beautiful. If you do, make sure to leave a comment letting them know you liked their bike, and make sure to forward the video to me, because I love watching beautiful bikes. Have a nice day! ✌️
