Den Haag Timelapse / Hyperlapse

The Hague (Den Haag or 's-Gravenhage in Dutch) is the third largest city of the Netherlands. It is the seat of parliament but not the capital, and houses important institutions such as the Peace Palace and the International Criminal Court. But The Hague is first and foremost that beautiful city behind the dunes (to quote The Hague's unofficial anthem), and this video aims to highlight some of that!

I took some 34000 photos of The Hague for this film, spread over a 2,5 year period during which I worked on and off on this project. This included location scouting and getting to know the city, as I didn't know The Hague that well before I started this project, and waiting for the right weather conditions. Editing the raw material, which takes up 845 GB of disk space, probably took longer than the time I spent capturing it. While I am incredibly happy with the result, there's still a lot of cool stuff that unfortunately didn't make the final cut - maybe it'll show up in some other piece!

Heel erg netjes gedaan, ik sta echt te kijken hoe je de overgangen zo soepel hebt gekregen. Ook mooi om te zien hoe je werk is geëvalueerd van je oudere werken. Is alles op een statief/rig gefotografeerd?

Dank je! Ja klopt bijna alles is vanaf een statief en/of een slider gedaan. Heel soms doe ik een hyperlapse vanuit de hand omdat het bijvoorbeeld te druk is of te weinig ruimte om met een statief te werken.

@@ArneWossink Ja zeker! Nederlands is inderdaad makkelijker :) De korte documentaire film waar wij momenteel aan werken heeft betrekking tot drogeren binnen het nachtleven onder de jongeren. Met behulp van dit project proberen wij de jeugd beter te onderwijzen op dit gebied, hopen wij een groter bewustzijn te creëren en uitgaan voor iedereen nog veiliger te maken. Deze film wordt puur alleen gepresenteerd aan de eerste jaars studenten aan de Universiteit Leiden in Den Haag. Dit project is voor een eindcijfer als onderdeel van de bachelor Security Studies. Wij hebben geen verdere intenties om dit op een ander online platform te plaatsen. Stel dit gebeurd uiteindelijk toch, is het natuurlijk meer dan logisch dat we u daar eerst over zullen contacteren. Wat betreft uw video, zullen wij alleen de fragmenten gebruiken die gefilmd zijn in de avond en puur als sfeerbeelden om het onderwerp te introduceren.
