It's impressive how responsive those people on the street have been there to your photography. I can't imagine that the folks here in Germany would do a peace sign rather than hiding their face behind there hands or something. @AndrewGoodCamera5 жыл бұрын
Touristy won't help you like it any more. What you should do is take up street photography. For me it's the observation of people that matters. It's less about the city. Sure, SF provides an interesting background, but all that really matters is that it's hundreds of thousands of people in a very compact area providing hundreds of opportunities to capture fascinating moments. This has very little to do with tourism.

I pretend that I don't speak English, smile, and walk away. :) In The US, taking photos of people in public is legal. I used to try to explain this, I also have deleted photos when someone was upset once. But now, I just pretend I don't speak their language. I'm not saying that's the right way, but I just don't really want to deal with it anymore. Haha. Having said that, I can count on one hand the number of times I've been "confronted" or challenged. It almost never happens. 99% of people just don't care. And if I have an air of certainty, if I'm quick, if I don't appear shifty or uneasy, no one is bothered in the slightest.

@AndrewGoodCamera5 жыл бұрын
You can learn a lot by shooting prime on the street. I often recommend primes for newer photographers as it forces you to think harder about composition. However, if you're more experienced and you don't have trouble seeing the full scene, a zoom is much more flexible on the street and I often prefer it. But then, again on the other hand, when you don't have the option to shoot telephoto, sometimes it can hone or narrow your vision and help give focus. In short, I can't answer that for you. Just depends. Best of luck :)

My kinda video, Andrew ;) . This will be my main approach, when I start my channel ;). Really nice shots, as usual, specially on that tunnel/underpass. PS: I was about to ask exactly that.. _ is it worth doubling the focal distance with 2 lenses? I mean... I probably won't get this one.. as the f1.4 really fills my 'heart' :P . But I was thinking of recommending this one to my brother who's thinking of jumping from the cellphone to a real proper camera. He's an architect so he wants to be able to shoot low light, better than with the phone obviously...and.. he's on a budget.. U think this one is fast enough? Thanks for this :) Cheers from Portugal
@AndrewGoodCamera5 жыл бұрын
If he's looking to photograph architecture and on a budget, I might recommend going Rokinon/Samyang as they are much cheaper and manual focus is no problem with architecture.
@V4D25 жыл бұрын
@@AndrewGoodCamera hehehe.. That's exactly what I told him.. But he said he wanted sth for travelling and drinks with friends, and stuff like that, in low light. The thing is that...phone cameras are so good these days that .. one really has got to spend a lot of dough in order to being worth it, ..jumping to photo cameras. And, if we're sticking just to performance... that's pretty much on the count of interface, AF speed and low light . the rest is ...well..a tough call. I recommended him to going Fujifilm because they're small , great quality, great fixed lenses..and they're really fun to use. I was thinking the pancake lens, this one, and maybe the cheap tele lens you got the other day. A nice X-T20..or even one of the A series cameras...and him and my sister in law should be good..huh? Perhaps the 50mm f2, instead of the telezoom?
