It's impressive how responsive those people on the street have been there to your photography. I can't imagine that the folks here in Germany would do a peace sign rather than hiding their face behind there hands or something. I love your videos, they've been one reason to start photographing and ordering a X-T20.

Hi Andrew! I’ve been shooting with the X-T30 for a couple weeks now, with the 16mm f2.8 and the 23mm f2, and have really been enjoying it. I was surprised a little how much fun it is to shoot with, and how accessible it being so small makes it. Awesome video, I feel like it captured the experience I’ve been having so far!

It's nice to see people coming to the city and enjoying themselves. I've been working here for 9 years and come to hate it... I should try and be touristy more often
@AndrewGoodCamera
@AndrewGoodCamera 5 жыл бұрын
Touristy won't help you like it any more. What you should do is take up street photography. For me it's the observation of people that matters. It's less about the city. Sure, SF provides an interesting background, but all that really matters is that it's hundreds of thousands of people in a very compact area providing hundreds of opportunities to capture fascinating moments. This has very little to do with tourism.

Hey Andrew, that was a really enjoyable film. I liked the InstaOne view of the world. My wife and I were married in SF, so it was great to see a walking tour of downtown, we must get back there one day. I have 2 questions, you may not see them and don't have the time to answer them, but I'll try my luck. 1. Did you use any film simulations for your shots in the video and did you use auto white balance? 2. Could you give us a glimpse into your editing process? I love the way your photos look in terms of colour and mood. Not to copy your style but to have a general guideline as a beginner. Cheers!

Loved the third person view! As someone who loves street photography but is terrified of taking photos of people this was really helpful to be able to put myself in your shoes and just see how you did your thing. Would love to see more of this. This also came up at the perfect time, I have just sold my MFT kit in order to join the Fuji gang and was trying to convince myself that I didn't need the X-T3. I don't do video and am sure the X-T30 will be perfect but sometimes it's hard to be sensible and not aim for the flagship. Now I just need to decide on what lenses I'll start with...

@@CmonSoundz that was my primary worry, and while I haven't missed IBIS yet I'm sure I will at some point. I'm mostly using the excellent 18-55 which is stabilised which helps. Hope in the future Fuji doesn't keep IBIS only for the X-H1.

I havn‘t sold any of the 2 systems yet, I am still not sure...I really like shooting with the pancakes, specially with the 20mm 1.7 or Fuji 28 2.8...but this round goes to mFT because of the IBIS...also I like the 14-140 or 18-135, and the Fuji is quite a lot bigger. Picture qualität goes to Fuji of course, but not by much, so I still don‘t know what to do ;-)

I pretend that I don't speak English, smile, and walk away. :) In The US, taking photos of people in public is legal. I used to try to explain this, I also have deleted photos when someone was upset once. But now, I just pretend I don't speak their language. I'm not saying that's the right way, but I just don't really want to deal with it anymore. Haha. Having said that, I can count on one hand the number of times I've been "confronted" or challenged. It almost never happens. 99% of people just don't care. And if I have an air of certainty, if I'm quick, if I don't appear shifty or uneasy, no one is bothered in the slightest.

Definitely it simplifies things. On the other hand, it makes me more self conscious about how I'm choosing to spend my time. @AndrewGoodCamera
@AndrewGoodCamera 5 жыл бұрын
You can learn a lot by shooting prime on the street. I often recommend primes for newer photographers as it forces you to think harder about composition. However, if you're more experienced and you don't have trouble seeing the full scene, a zoom is much more flexible on the street and I often prefer it. But then, again on the other hand, when you don't have the option to shoot telephoto, sometimes it can hone or narrow your vision and help give focus. In short, I can't answer that for you. Just depends. Best of luck :)

My kinda video, Andrew ;) . This will be my main approach, when I start my channel ;). Really nice shots, as usual, specially on that tunnel/underpass. PS: I was about to ask exactly that.. _ is it worth doubling the focal distance with 2 lenses? I mean... I probably won't get this one.. as the f1.4 really fills my 'heart' :P . But I was thinking of recommending this one to my brother who's thinking of jumping from the cellphone to a real proper camera. He's an architect so he wants to be able to shoot low light, better than with the phone obviously...and.. he's on a budget.. U think this one is fast enough? Thanks for this :) Cheers from Portugal

If he's looking to photograph architecture and on a budget, I might recommend going Rokinon/Samyang as they are much cheaper and manual focus is no problem with architecture.

@@AndrewGoodCamera hehehe.. That's exactly what I told him.. But he said he wanted sth for travelling and drinks with friends, and stuff like that, in low light. The thing is that...phone cameras are so good these days that .. one really has got to spend a lot of dough in order to being worth it, ..jumping to photo cameras. And, if we're sticking just to performance... that's pretty much on the count of interface, AF speed and low light . the rest is ...well..a tough call. I recommended him to going Fujifilm because they're small , great quality, great fixed lenses..and they're really fun to use. I was thinking the pancake lens, this one, and maybe the cheap tele lens you got the other day. A nice X-T20..or even one of the A series cameras...and him and my sister in law should be good..huh? Perhaps the 50mm f2, instead of the telezoom?

My main thoughts during the intro was mostly “That is a strangely beautiful landline phone” Great video as always.

You appear to be filming the intro in some sort of time-warp late seventies-early eighties motel room from out of a long-forgotten B movie. Where is this?
