Great camerawork on the coin. Beautiful details clearly visible. Great explanation of the beginning of the denarius in the middle of the The Second Punic War (211 BC) between Rome and Carthage. Second Punic war from 218 - 201 BC.

Excellent video from which I learned a lot as usual. Coin debasement? Yes. history repeats itself. It brings back to me faint childhood memories of me getting a set of 10 encyclopedias which were called Pictorial Knowledge and which were crammed with facts and stories, accounts like this, from around the world. They kept me enthralled for many an hour, for years. Next time I am out with my metal detector (when eventually allowed) and if I get lucky finding any of these, I will now have a better idea of what I have found. Roman coinage is quite plentiful in the UK and can be bought for just a few £'s. Many thanks Junius.

@Blazin609 I am in NW UK, though far better pickings in the (richer) south, but I have found what I believe are two Roman copper coins at a "permission" (as we call it - an agreeable farm/land owner) a mile from me. Sadly, being copper, they were quite badly corroded, such that lettering/images were hardly decipherable. Yet I could tell they were very old 'hammered' ones being less than half the thickness of the old pre-decimal penny and ha'penny with the diameter being somewhere between the two. We also have two ancient Bronze Age 'barrel' burial mounds close to that farm, later used by the Vikings we believe, with a Roman fort once having also been close by, details as here if of interest. thejournalofantiquities.com/2018/06/14/the-pre-history-of-catlow-near-nelson-lancashire/ thejournalofantiquities.com/2016/03/02/castercliff-hillfort-colne-and-nelson-lancashire/

These things are addictive. Can you ever 'own' such artifacts? I think at some point, it becomes more a responsibility to preserve them as caretakers for the next generation than it is to own them and complete collections. :) What a spectacular presentation, boys! Those coins are pristine!!!

Gold is up every year for the last 20. Bitcoin just crashed $10,000 in mere hours. Gold will hold wealth forever, not sure how long BTC will hang around .
