When growing outdoors, do you protect it from the rain and snow? Or just treat it like any other outdoor plant?

Hi Siva, I bring this one indoors when the overnight temp is threatening to drop below 4deg Celcius. Hope that's helpful

Hello! I got a 4" one of these a few years ago. It did well the first year and sent out some new growth and flowered. The blooms lasted about a week - should they have lasted longer? This past year the plant has looked rough - very pale leaves and canes not looking so good, even though I had not moved it from the original spot that I had placed it in. Maybe I as not giving it enough water? I'm really not sure. I trimmed back some of the dry looking canes, and was surprised to still see green inside of them. I have repotted it in moss and added some fertilizer pellets. It's still not looking great, but there are two small growths at the base of the plant, so I hope it will start looking better. Other than trimming the the dead spikes, do you ever cut back your canes?

Where do you live? Pale leaves could indicate too much sun or some issues with too little food. As I’ve said- I grow mine outdoors in the UK where the sun is never that strong (for long) and our summers are relatively short. I feed every second/third watering when growing. Other than that nothing special. I hope your plant picks up this year.

Oh…. And I never cut the canes. These are energy stores for the plant.
