Just the other side of the bridge on the right used to be a garage and had two fuel pumps I worked there right up until it closed down .I was lucky enough to know most of the celebrities around denham village

AT 4.51 is the stretch of the High Street which featured in location shots (including the titles) in a couple of the MGM "Miss Marple" pictures filmed in the early '60s with Margaret Rutherford. The area looks sleepy and modest but is (and has long been) a bolthole for the wealthy and London 'media' people: you'd need very deep pockets and a lot of patience to acquire one of those humble-looking cottages as a pied-de-terre.

The great (in my opinion) Roger Moore lived just up the road from Denham Village in a stunning house in the 1970s. Just in case anyone is interested it features in the opening shots of The Persuaders episode A Death In The Family.

Yes I saw Roger in 1973, on the train platform at Denham Station. My dad spoke to him (asked him the time). He was such a gentleman (Roger). Very cordial and classy. I will always remember him that way. Fond memory.

@@dawnmurphy4320 Ufortunately I never met him but from what I've heard your experience seems very typical of him. Very down to earth and always had time to talk to fans, public etc. Someone I know went to see his theatre show about his life shortly before he died and despite being in his late eighties Rog stayed way beyond the allotted time chatting to the audience. Some great stories about him online such as the little boy he met at Nice airport who was disappointed when he signed his autograph Roger Moore and not James Bond.

Absolutely beautiful place, when I was younger I done a lot of filming in denham for the bbc, it brought back so many memories seeing the church, even the red wall coming into denham. The production unit was based in the car park of the village hall. And I was very very lucky to have met sir John mills in 2000 whilst filming a program called “Belfry witches”. And at 5:07 I believe that house is situated at the back of the graveyard which was the house used for the my characters family home.

Jakeornot Margaret Rutherford had lived in several homes in Gerrards Cross down the rd and Chalfont st Peter, Rodger more lived behind Cilla Black 1970 untill 1978 when he left for 98%tax reasons. Lewis Collins "tv series The Professionals " parents lived opposite Winkers night club and John Mills lived here.

Riding around reminded me of Danny in The Shining.🤣 That aside I have to say what a beautiful, quiet spot on the world map. I live in a suburb of Chicago. I grew up in Chicago. As large cities go it wasn’t bad and it has its pluses but amid a pandemic and it’s political corruption, run don’t walk away.

Many years ago, (1968-1970), my husband and I, lived in Huntwyk Cottage on the A40. I used to walk to the village and remember the little church. I also remember a restaurant down the bottom of the hill leading from the cottage. Our first child was born in Slough, Bucks. Lovely memories!

What a pretty and more or less unspoilt English village; who'd have thought that this village was the location of the biggest purpose-built film studios in the UK from the 1930's! And not only that, the village was used in several films as a background location.

While there are homes, especially in New England, US, where the front entrance is on the street, there is usually some manner of sidewalk, even if but two feet. How do residents manage with the street being the direct entrance at the front, please.
