Damn ! The NBA's celebration of hypocrisy. I am in favor of condemning violence, and if you want to condemn violence in the NBA, then I am in favor. Clearly, taunting can provoke a league with many more violent outbursts. So if there are rules designed to reduce violent incidents, that is certainly great. The NBA applies a double standard in dealing with condemning violence. 1) Violent incidents that are more serious than taunting: There is a law for judging taunting and giving a technical foul, but violence is still broadcast on TV for the sake of ratings: A few days ago there was an unsuccessful boxing match between a Suns player and players from Dallas. They did not stop broadcasting it, and it was broadcast everywhere over and over again for the sake of ratings. The league can broadcast it with a 5-second delay and choose not to broadcast the violent incident. But not only did they choose to broadcast it, they also chose not to 'hide it' from the highlights, quite the opposite, it uses it everywhere. So how do you expect to reduce violence if you encourage it.... 2) Double standard in dealing with different players: Just a few weeks ago we had a duel of taunts between LeBron and Ja Morant, with the NBA's standard taunt of 'you're too short/small', after scoring a basket. No one got a technical foul there. When players score a three, they celebrate and count with their fingers "1-2-3" for the number of points they scored, and that too in some way can be taunting if the opposing player sees it. And is that okay? Back to Den - So how come Danny, who only counted the number of guards he threw in the air, similar to counting points scored, got a technical?! While players who use the you're too small taunt don't get a technical (LeBron among them). Bad refereeing.

If the league is serious about condemning violence, they should start by calling fouls on Deni. He gets punched and pushed at least five times a game without a whistle.
