This is infuriating! And also hypocritical. I lived in Italy and saw that they were the worst when it came to safety. The tiny grocery store I went to blocked the emergency exit with towering stacks of boxes they hadn’t unloaded yet. And if it wasn’t blocked by boxes, a neighbor lady would regularly tie up her little lapdog there (which is how I saw it was the emergency exit in the first place.) This kind of thing occurred regularly and I remember thinking Italy was the last place I wanted to be in case of an emergency. I’m so sorry this is happening to you. I had no idea the deaf community faced such discrimination, and I appreciate you raising awareness of it.

Grrr..that makes me so angry.I am hard of hearing.I did a deaf wedding ceremony for my deaf niece last month I was appalled how little there was on performing deaf weddings.I made my own ceremony for my deaf niece and it turned out awesome! The deaf community is so unappreciated. Not enough done for the deaf community😢

Yeah, eyes are better than ears because light travels faster toward our eyes than sound toward their ears. /shrug

You will sue to Church staff 😂

I’m sorry that happened to you. ESP at a church. But they have a valid point. I mean… (& I hope I don’t get tons of hate here for this)… but I can understand their position a little bit. It’s not about the tower ‘actually’ falling. It’s about announcements made over a loud speaker about “what you should do” in case of ANY kind of accident or dangerous incident. And people these days, are only TOO HAPPY to bring lawsuits. So I DO understand their liability position. However, that being said… I think all popular tourist spots should maybe have some kind of assistance to offer. (Not sure what, but just some sort of hearing impaired assistance)

You’re assuming there’s an announcement system in place in case of emergency. Having lived in Italy for a few years, I truly doubt that. (No hate intended for Italy. I just know there are so many historical sites in that country it’s a challenge to manage them and all the visitors. Remember, the American with Disabilities Act is an American phenomenon, and most of Europe does not have those types of accessibility laws in place.)
