I studied at music conservatory and I hd to become 57 being able to perform Rachmaninov 3thd piano concerto and trio movements de petrochka and while being a student , I studied jazz and pop music after playing Scarlatti, Bach, Mozart , Chopin, Brahms....Today finally I earn my bucks as a general surgeon....

Could anybody write down,what Matsuev is playing ? NO - it is unique ! Could anybody describe,what happens in this Jazzmusic ? NO - our brain is not so quick as his fingers ! Could anybody write something about this Improvisation ? NO - all listeners are dumb of admiration ! Could anybody make a notice in a journal ? YES ! "Nobody can excel the talent of Denis Matsuev !"

I like your comment, but it's not that true that we can not write about it, because you did it and neither true that our brain is slower than his fingers, if you are a musician... But i agree that music is the best way to say what is music. And i have to edit to say that also is my favourite pianist alive, meanwhile. And also... The piece, if you listen to jazz music, you know it, it's a so famous one: Duke Ellington/Juan Tizol - Caravan. There is many piano solo versions, for one that perhaps you will like, so much earlier than this and from a almost blind guy: Art Tatum.

He's playing an improvisation on Duke Ellington's Take the 'A' train. I was present at this concert in Amsterdam, after classical works by Tchaikowsky and Rachmaninov we weren't expecting this!
