The way that Shapo and Thiem can hit open stance running backhand passes with one-handed backhands.......never ceases to put my jaw on the floor.

The way he is playing doesn't let him be consistent so he can either change the way he is playing and become a succesful player or keep playing this way and being an impressive player but not consistent
@johndunlap91394 жыл бұрын
I don't think he needs to be more consistent per say so much as improve his strategy. He goes for the kill shot too soon or puts himself in a position where he needs to hit a kill shot.

A brilliant shot maker but not a brilliant match player. He can be glorious to watch or terrible. He has much in common with that other flashy left hander in the 80s, Henri Leconte. He could give you fireworks but never strung it together consistently.

How can you say it's a fluke when you literally just saw highlights of wins against 3 players higher than him on the rankings, beating two players he had never beaten. You could say he got lucky with Nadal's injury but even then it's not like he can control that. He managed to get into the top 15, he's been improving every year since starting to compete, not everyone can win tournaments all the time it doesn't mean they're bad.
