One of the most aesthetically pleasing player to watch, on every stroke. He takes huge cuts at the ball and can generate massive power and spin. His backhand is unique imo. He turns his hips like wawrinka does but not all the way.

best one handed backhand ever. He rips it every time.

The lag he creates from his preparation is the best on tour. It enables him to really snap the wrist through similar to a slapped forehand but with effortless control.

His technique is interesting in that he doesn't use his right arm to counterbalance as much and he presents his chest out to the court more. Wawrinka also opens up his chest, but El Shapo's the only one I've seen that doesn't really use his right arm. It's certainly quite the powerful stroke, and I'm interested to see how far he can go.

Wawrinka doesn't throw his left arm as far back either. It just kinda stays at his side.

Yeah, he doesn't use his right arm at all does he? Maybe that's why he hits it so well, not in spite of the fact he doesn't do it? If you throw the arm back you get less body rotation. I've tried throwing my arm back but it just felt weird, and didn't help with power or balance.

Not letting that other arm fly backwards can explain why they miss a lot of their one handers as well.

Best modern 1BH in ATP. Compares favorably vs. Thiem with a more compact and fluid setup that works well for fast surfaces. Full range of motions, full-extension, full power. Beautiful rhythm and fluidity.

Does he use an eastern grip, and that is why he jumps ? So that he can get over the high ball ?

Who has the best one handed backhand in tennis and how does Shapovalov compare?
@angejo55914 жыл бұрын
wawrinka has the best one handed but shapovalov has insane feel and effortless power behind his swing. He coordinates his swing really well and it flows so nicely
@LoveTennisOfficial4 жыл бұрын
@@angejo5591 Also has the nice jumping backhand too that not many players use on the one hander

in my opinion not perfect movement although very effective. He puts so much strain on his arm, he could benefit from losening it up a little. Also give himself a fraction more space - instead he starts pulling his shoulder away before contacting the ball. Still I'm a huge fan of Shapo and hope he gets it together soon and starts winning consistingly

compare to the top one hander, his bh is just so so, beautiful but less efficient.
